Brink Barrier To Entry Retention Fix/Idea
Interesting stuff here wolf
Thanks. Hope folks can see what I was trying to do and say. I have the best intentions in mind.
It needs adjusting. So many focused on actual changes to weapons and body types, etc., but what I am proposing is work-arounds. I’m trying to come at this from a different angle. You can’t go back in f****ing time and fix all this stuff! Nobody owns a time machine, brother. I added some examples of fixes that could be implemented NOW. and perhaps help ease the transition for NEW players!
Keep posting because feedback is welcome. Just busting on you, tokamak. Like I always do. :)
Too late for Brink now.
Too late for Brink now.
Nope. Rahdo commented on this thread. And many people play on console. Hang in there, brother. We along for the ride.
Good ideas. Honestly, I am worried that after this next round of weapon tweaks, Bethesda is gonna pull the plug on funding Brink and that’ll be that.
This game is great as it is, but there’s still room to be so much better.

Did you invent that time machine you mentioned earlier or what? The damage is done now, nothing can magically turn it back, the player count we have now is only going to ever go one way.

Forgot you was as thick as two planks, I’ll be more direct.
How will these ideas help retain players that have already left and sold their copy of the game?
Yeah, I figured that they could easily change some of the backend stuff without too much pain. The overall change I suggest in my thread kinda asks for that stuff:
- Make Pub Standard start in the Warm-up lobby between each match.
- The match can’t start unless 5-6 people join each team and 50%+ Ready Up
- If 7-8 people are on each team, the match Autostarts in 20sec or immediately, whatever.
- Hard AI bots for the love of God and everything that’s holy.
If people DON’T like those settings or they’d rather play vs easy bots/no bots, then they can create a private match.

PC may be dead, but the XBL community is still strong enough. We played a few nights ago and had a hard time finding a server with enough empty spots for our party of 6.
Lots of folks on Console, Chris. But we’re GREEDY. We wants some more! More FRESH BLOOD!
You seem to be both missing the point raised, many have left already, what we have now are all the folk who want to play this game, everyone else has left, these ideas wont do much for them still playing as they already find the game fine to play. These ideas are 3 months to late, you’ll be pretty much preaching to the converted with these…
The point is that there is still a large enough player base on XBL to keep this game alive for a while longer. We regulars are just asking for some changes because Pub Standard is become a wasteland of teams full of solo newb rando’s and low level bots. Anytime our group goes into Pub Standard, we win 90% of the time, vs full teams of 8 people, then most of those people quit and the vicious cycle of 8vs1 occurs.
Wolf and I are offering suggestions to try and fix this problem so at least the current fan base of Brink can continue to enjoy the game.

Now it seems like if its not red-hot and perfect on day one, it gets tossed aside. I never played Bioshock until like a year after it came out. Its not like for me personally, I’d ever worry about how many other people were playing as long as there were some friends to play with. Sometimes stuff like Brink works like that.
You have to keep supporting it because it is a type of game that is in its own category in a way. Stuff similar to Star Trek, which was originally a canceled TV show. Then grew into a larger thing. Not sure what to tell you other than that’s how I look at things. And usually try to get my friends or other people to see the merits of something not everyone agrees with. Just the way it works sometimes.
This thread tries to keep all that in mind. Good luck with your search for a better game or one more to your liking, Chris. It’ll come. Just got to be patient. Maybe it will never be Brink. But many still find it fun to play. Myself included.
Well said 'Nemesissy.
Ha ha. Were you playing the other day with Bob Shred? We were telling him about DorkSolarcrest and Nemesissy and he was cracking up: like how’d you know I said that? Ha ha ha.
I thought the topic was about player retention and to fix entry barrier? Not making Brink enjoyable for those who’ve stuck around?

Nice but what did any of that had to do with my question? This thread is about player retention and fixing the entry barrier? Do you even know what this means?
Ofcourse he doesn’t. This guy finished last when the brains were handed out, thinking BRINK has a high learning curve. ROFL
He should never try minesweeper cause that would blow his mind
