Same as with grenades I guess. Really cool.

(Dormamu) #44

yep… Container City Part 2 ~ 02:26

(Trig_) #45

Ditto.

By the way, any one seen Rock, Paper Shotgun’s in-dept commentary to go along with the trailer.

Nice, that’s actually got me a little excited to play the game right NOW!

Agree on the explosions, seem a little small and… lacking body. I guess small is necessary in the smaller more confined maps. Perhaps smoke and some effects would take care of the body.

Lack of seasonal release date good or bad? Is it near or are we just back to when it’s done?

Lets hope we start getting these vids on a regular basis again until we get a release.

Oh I forgot, the spire hit by the missile may not be the main one we see for the arc, it could be a secondary one or even a spire looking building. I don’t think it’s a big spoiler other than it’ll probably be a mission cinematic.

MOAR Tapir!

The opening sequence, “Are you ready to do this brothers?” is beautiful, breathtaking, really.

Cutscenes
I am curious, is there a higher resolution for the cutscenes than there is for the game proper? There seems to be a difference in quality/detail. I would have thought the cutscenes would be rendered in-engine and therefore uniform with the rest of the gameplay.

Sound
I think the sound for the guns is great.

HUD
It is weird seeing more footage without reticles or the rest of the HUD. Is that the way the game is going to be played now? (Bethesda calls it a “Gameplay video” and we are only months away from promised release.)

Explosion/FX
I think that we are used to explosions from games like the CoD / Battlefield series and so I think for some, the explosions here look … unsatisfying. SD is walking a tight-rope between real and cartoon and I think to some extent, that is reflected in the effects. It must be incredibly difficult to do.

Release/Hype
It is time to get this game out. If Bethesda cranks up their hype engine, only to tell us that it will be delayed until summer, or worse, then we will be able to buy Rage, and going back to the old Id tech is gonna be painful.

Need For Demo
I can’t figure it out. With the BRINK promotional stuff, I always seem to take one or two steps forward, and then another step or two back. Every other video has me elated or scratching my head. If this is a game that has to be played to be understood/appreciated, a demo will serve SD/Bethesda well.

If the game is still on track for a spring release, then it is still my most anticipated game of 2011.

Cutscenes have to be rendered in-game as they’re meant to feature your customised characters. Perhaps in the video they rendered to higher quality to show off the facial details better. Or maybe it’s just because there is less action going on that you can gather more detail. Would be kind of neat if the game ramped up details when it knew it didn’t need to be processing all those bullets and AI.

Hahaha didn’t ETQW remain HUDless for a very long time? I’m sure it’s on their last thing to pretty up list. Besides we always end up bitching about it. Just let it be customisable and keep screen clutter optional.

Yes, this really has to release before or the latest at Quakecon.

I’m just wondering if you guys have ever seen a real explosion or if you’re basing “explosions look too small” on watching too many Bruce Willis or John Woo movies? They looked fantastically rendered and quite appropriate to me.

Also… blood cloud on enemy death FTW

(SockDog) #50

It’s a game. I’m basing my opinion on other games and my general expectations of “explosion”. Not saying they SUCK, just that compared to other games they look less explosive and more ball of flames.

Edit:
I paused/unpaused through again and it looks like the very flamey explosions are actually molotovs not grenades. Explains one thing then. That said I’ll be petty and say the size and effects seem a little off still. Like it needs a more pronounced shockwave or heat haze effect to give it more substance.

Anyway, it’s just a video and I won’t care come time to play the game myself.

Knockdowns by guns (Pistol even).

It seems like knockdowns are going to play a big part in this game. I can just see some weapon that knocks down a group of guys and you run in and melee a couple of them to death before they can get up.

Explosions seemed fine to me, seemed like many were nades, even hitting guys and exploding and knocking them back, the one where it hit the side of the ship right in front of you was pretty big. Maybe they don’t seem so big because the effect is very fast.

I’m sure a lot of the effect was from the way it was edited (quick chages of scenes), but the action seemed very fast as well. So fast explosions maybe add to the over-all feel?

oh, yeah: Oh man I can’t wait.
But is it me or the model animations look as choppy as in ETQW?
Seemed like the clips were too short to give a real impression.

The death animations didn’t look as fast as they did last year though. Again, tough to tell.

Explosions are fine. That released date 5/17/2011 is still spring but only by 4 days which is pushing it. So if any BRINK staff read please let it be early then that. P.S: Brink staff keep up the good work

(Virus047) #54

Awesome!

(Jess Alon) #55

5/17/2011? What the hell are you talking about?

Dare you are purposefully spreading misinformation about Brink’s release date. And I kind of wanna know why. 3 of your only 4 posts mention your specific date like it’s a FACT. You never ASK anyone if it’s the date. You are INFORMING people. And to be honest I’ve already informed the mods of your little charade. Thanks for playing. See you around.

(Jess Alon) #56

<yeah i’ll edit that down>

(Dare) #57

5/17/2011 is the release date at gamestop for Brink

(Jess Alon) #58

Well Gamestop Corporation Building @ 625 Westport Parkway, Grapevine, TX doesn’t have a ****ing Splash Damage logo on their building do they? 2 weeks ago “Gamestop” said that the release date was april 12th. Gamestop also has the lamest pre-order package out of all four of them too. So why do you care what date gamestop says that Splash Damage’s game comes out? And why are you on a splash damage forum trying to tell splash damage forum members a ****ing gamestop’s best guess as to when SPLASH DAMAGE will be finished with the game?

You probably think everything you see on the news is true too. And completely unbiased.

How about this? http://www.brinkthegame.com

Save that website in your favorites. Visit it every day and see if the release date has changed from spring 2011.

We don’t care what gamestop says. They are wrong and they’ve been wrong 25 times. They’ve guessed a million different dates. Stop posting gamestop dates on a splash damage forum. You’re gonna get banned. Especially if you act like you know something.

(Dare) #59

Hey all i was trying to do is get some info on the damn release date. If you got a problem go complain to your mom it just a question. Your have you forgot this is a free crounty. And by the way the official Brink site has been in my favs for a year. Its called getting info

(3Suns) #60

I have just re-watched the official Bethesda site version. Much better than the Youtube (even in 720p).

Very, VERY pretty! The game is gorgeous.
