Bring it on brink!

(Crytiqal) #21

In all fairness, you could rent it, or try it if your friends have a copy.

I’d say this game is better as a console game as far as I can see.

(Tandem) #22

Stay away.

Even if you like the game, servers are empty for NA PC, more servers on the Euro side, but not many (single digits).
I’d sell my copy for $5, if that was possible on steam.
Kurushi, this game has absolutly NO learning curve AT ALL.

If you can’t even grasp this game then you should go play pong.

The game even TELLS you what class you need to be for each objective, srsly
LOL

you say no learning curve and you’ve played less than I played in the first 2 weeks? You’ve not even scratched the surface. Come back when you’ve played more.

On top of that you think the console version is better and… “the game tells you what class to be” is that the best you can come up with?

Please, if you’re playing Brink on a console, don’t even bother commenting… the standard of competition doesn’t even compare to the PC. You have a lot to learn

(gooey79) #24
Really? Really? Everything about Brink is better on the PC. I’d go into detail but that’s only going to cause a flame war

Brink’s great… it’s not broken but it needs some patching. Player numbers are low but there’s a lull just before the DLC hits. So… if your PC spec is decent, wait for the DLC to land then buy it, it’s cheap!
Yes, really. On a technical level, Brink is better on PC in nearly every way. But on a gameplay level, it’s a console game on PC. I want a PC game on PC. When I play it on PS3, it feels like it’s designed for that platform and thus I reckon it’s more at home there. That’s why I said it ‘plays’ better - not ‘is’ better.

Remember, it’s just my opinion. Don’t get your little panties in a twist.

Plays better is better no? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to disagree though, I think it plays better on the PC. But I think something as ‘simple’ as the console fov makes it play worse

(aviynw) #26

If you don’t like the game the DLC isn’t going to change anything. I don’t understand why so many people on these forums think it will. THE CORE GAMEPLAY WILL REMAIN THE SAME. The dlc will bring some new maps, new abilities, and TWEAKS ONLY.

And I’ve never had trouble finding a full server any time of day here in the U.S.

(Calcifer) #27

Ok so i finally rented the game I think its really fun. I just have a couple questions. Can Engineers build turrets like in Team Fortress? And is there CTF?

(gooey79) #28

Yes, Engineers can built turrets; although they’re not overly useful. No, there’s no CTF.

(SinDonor) #29

Yet, in tournament play, teams are only allowed one turret per side, since they’re so “useless”.

In reality, the turrets in Brink, when placed properly/strategically are very useful and powerful.

The turrets in TF2 are overpowered to make up for the lack of the Engineer’s personal firepower. In Brink, an Engineer can use any bodytype and any gun, making them on par with all other characters when it comes to default weapon loadouts.

(FireWorks) #30

Turrets are not that area denial as in TF2, place them more hidden or in groups. They are more a little helper in your back or an annoying thing to shoot before they can plant a charge.

You’re quoting something I didn’t say (‘useless’). Let’s not make stuff up, please.

To be fair, I’ve not unlocked the third tier turret yet. But, for the turrets I’ve come up against from other players; not one has caused an issue to me or the team. More an ‘annoying thing’ as mentioned by FireWorks.

Maybe everyone is doing it wrong?

Yes you didn’t say they were useless, sorry for the exaggeration. You said they were not “overly-useful”, my point was that they are overly-useful since multiple turrets are banned in tourney play. People who diss on turrets in Brink just don’t know how to place them properly or have faced noob Engies with the same lack of knowledge. Also, comparing them to TF2 turrets, which many do, is unfair.

I played against some tourney/clan guys recently and they were hiding turrets in unusual spots that were very effective. I was saying “WTF??? What’s hitting me HERE?” then turned around to see some turret hidden well behind some pillar or tree/etc.

(gooey79) #33

Fair play. I use em mostly (with cheeky mines) around command posts, gives me a heads up when one’s being approached by the enemy - since they’re largely left unattended for reasonable periods of time.

Gives me an idea for a thread, actually.

(sereNADE) #34

Brink has a few rewards for successful cooperation with friends and teammates (talking about quick tactics, not so much strategy and you had better have voice communication) but absolutely no reward for reaction time and aiming precision (gunplay suffers tremendously, even worse with community focus and hang-ups with smgs). Fun with mates when you can quickie an objective.

Get 2-3 friends and whip out your revolvers, as they are the only acceptable exception to the rule of bad guns here, then you got a good game at 20 dollars.

Maybe im just smarter than you.

What else is there more to it then getting the objectives done? I KNOW how this type of game is supposed to be played, since I’ve had a lot of experience in both W:ET and ET:QW, and I can see how this game has been dumbed down soo much compared to those two games that I can grasp the concept of THIS game with my little pink.

This is just one of the MANY examples how this game caters for the mindless

I play BRINK on a PC so I will bother commenting.

Please tell me what I have to learn, cause I think I already know how everything works. You press “F”. :stroggbanana:

You know when it says “press F to win”? Press F

You seem stuck in negative thoughts on Brink, I’m not sure I can help you:(
