Bowling run (step 1: just an idea)

hi,

i’ve the game since 2 weeks but i already have an idea of map… it’s based of baserace but very different :bump:

but i can’t map, so i would like a good mapper (beginner but not noob, it’s good) who helps me .

if a mapper is interested, he can PM me with his MSN.

i will explain him on MSN, becuase i don’t know if my project is good or not…

the codename of the project is PUSHRACE, so if we can’t take an object pushable, my project is cancelled… :disgust:

my second idea is bowling run.

it’s a FUN-OBJ map and the objective is:

you have to destroy the 10 giant pins of the opposite team (like bowling). if the 10 bricks aren’t all breked by one of the 2 teams, the team who have breked most bricks won.

and like bowling, there are 4 lines with 1, 2, 3 and 4 pins.

between all the lines, there is an unbreakable barrier.

if all the pins of the line is breaked , the barrier disappears.

and the 4 lines have a different way to be breaked.

line with 1 pin: bring a “superbomb” to the first brick. the player who brings the bomb dies if he destroy the fisrt brick.
the pin is REBUILDABLE but not the barrier (if it’s rebuilded, the opposite team lose the point).
line with 2 pins: NOT REBUILDABLE - destroy one pin with a satchel charge.
line with 3 pins: NOT REBUILDABLE - destroy one pin with 20 grenades, 25 panzers or 30 mortar bombs. (if it’s impossible, the “break blue bar” for 20 panzers)
line with 4 pins: NOT REBUILDABLE - destroy one pin with a dynamite.

what do you think?

What do you mean with pushable?
Should the objectives be pushed / shoved?
Or mapparts (like crates etc.)?

seems these “i need a mapper” post are all the range nowerdays

just post ur idea up and the more experienced mapper can debate the posability of your idea. just telling one mapper is a bad idea imo since you will only get his impresions on it. telling differnt mapper will egnerate differenet aproches on how to realsie your map so should anyone actuly want to build it he has a lot of options already opened for him

my idea is a race with a shovable sphere. you have to put him in a hole at the end of a lobby. obsacles (like a conveyor belt) will be controlled by the other team. the lobbies will by crossed (the allies lobby and the axis lobby), and the “X” of the cross will be blocked by doors to get over.

You can’t have a free movable ball.
All objects that are movable (tank, truck) follow defined lines.

I surpose you could make one that works something like those chairs you can push around… I dont know if you can make a sort of capture point for them though.

Correct.

I would also like to mention Q3Pong. The mod was based around spheres which would need to be launched into the other team’s goal. They weren’t shoveable but were to be hit with Q3 weapons.
It might give you some inspiration, and maybe some part for the mod’s source. (I don’t know for sure if they released their code…)

i dont realy knwo how you did this but taking a gess you have four trigger, one on each side of the box and these move it in desired directions. perhaps but using two accum that increment and deincrement every time the box is moved on ither the x or y axis it effect this accum. then the box can be given triggering limitation when the accums reach a sertin value meaning the box can be restricted to a retangular filed of movment

what kind of interesting objective you can make with this is anyones gess

A while back I had a crazy idea and started one of these projects again which probably never will be finished (maybe 75% done so far). The first real single player map for ET - Sokoban :moo:

Detoeni gave some hints in this thread which I used to make the needed movable boxes.

Yes, something like that with a custom model for the boxes having a tag on each side (FIU’s attached for pushing) and using gotomarker with the relative parameter along with 4 path_corners (north - south and east - west) for moving.

I can’t give details at the moment because I’m at work. If someone wants more information or probably a small sample map with script, let me know.

You have a mod called “domination” (i think its called that).
you have a ball - and its placed in the middle of the map.
You can pick up the ball and trow it to eachother and you can score a goal by carrying the ball to your opponnents goal.
Tested it couple of times - action all the time - good fun.

i thought that you could modify the kickable grenade

creating a big grenade without explosion… :disgust:

Kickable grenades are a feature of a mod ET-Pub.
But even if you would exchange the normal sized grenade in a big grenade it would explode.
So you would have to write your own mod anyway.
