mostly finding bugs, glitches, missing things right now, but just think, when you do get in lots of stuff will already be fixed, more time for fun

Well of course, but that’s not always the case. In this case it says on the site that you will not get immediate access. Pre orders are also more and more common in which you pay 60 bucks months in advance and then just have to wait, kinda the same thing here except you are guaranteed early access through the closed beta.

see, the thing is, it’s not about playing, it’s about fixing, you would be frustrated, better to wait till it’s playable for you, let us get it ready

That’s the thing you have to remember, you aren’t getting access to “play” the game. You are getting access to help fix and make it better :smiley:

^QFT. Alpha is for testing. Beta is for playing. Why would you want to see the game in an unfinished state just to get upset and say “that doesn’t look like it’s even complete yet!” derp??? You will hear about it when it is ready to be heard lol…

What I want to know is at what level could I get what level amount of game theory straight from the source (not bothered with people’s opinions thanks, that’s what Twitter and Facebook is for)?

I’m a future game dev and I’m taking just about every aspect of game development seriously and I’d rather jump to the $120 tier to include such things as that IRC chat without the shirts and beanies and other nicknacks I don’t have the space for. :confused:

In fact I’d trade away all these cosmetics and exclusives just for a PDF every other month detailing your new findings with that spanking shiny new data mining system you’ve set up - Echo was it? That looks jaw dropping and I’d love to get my hands on a software suite like that!

I know you’re doing some sort of half-hearted, much more open legalese Kickstarter alternative to keep chugging but not over-promise with but the real value of the packs are quite subjective. I’d appreciate any developer input on this.

EDIT: Hmm, just noticed that there was an NDA and game development progress access e-mailed to me, and got that straightened out. Nice to see this was chipped in despite not really being mentioned on the DB minisite.

Finally, I can use up some of this MASSIVE FREE TIME burning through all sorts of boring, technical, statistic padded, non-stop droning, way too deep details of game theory at length! University starts early!

Currently you’ll have to buy in at the $120 level to get access to the game and the discussion forum. I believe the other access you have may not meet the level to which you want, at least not until they move to beta or possibly invite some of the lower tiers to participate in the alpha.

For what it’s worth, SD do listen and act on player feedback (and as shown in the ECHO video, they substantiate it with actual data). They also take the time to explain processes and choices when they can. Although I’d caution you not to read too much into the prior sentence too, they’re obviously busy so won’t always have time to debate or go into intricate details on every topic.

As someone who’s interested in the process of making a game (but with no actual experience) the Alpha is a window, no, keyhole, into it.
