Bots vs Humans

ok, for example what if ill be playing restistance, and in resistance will be no human player, only bots (and me

security will be filled with human players.

-will bots do objective?
-will they team play?

bot is always experienced, its programmed so bot know what to do.
will it be fair bots vs new brink players they dont know map yet?

From what I’ve heard about the bots from people who have played is that they are virtually indistinguishable from real human players.

(xTriXxy) #3

so that means bots also dont know map? or what to do? or where to go, where to find objective… ?

xxx : Don’t forget that players will be matched on their rank, so newcomers will play mostly on low level servers, and bots on that kind of servers will have a low difficulty for sure.

(xTriXxy) #5

i know that. but./ do you think bot on low level server is unprogrammed, making mistakes, or half of the time lost or camping somewhere?
no. maybe their aim will be bad, but they will go directly after objective.

I don’t know at all. I don’t think having bots going for objectives would break the game. Apparently, hands on at the last PAX at least were composed of bots for half of each team, and I read a report where the gamer didn’t know which character was human…

Will Brinks bots be able to pass the Turing test ?

If you want a bot that doesn’t know how to play, no. The bots will know what to do. But that’s okay, because you as a player have plenty of ways to easily, quickly find out what to do.

You could use the objective wheel.

You could randomly run forwards, which is what everyone’s always done for centuries.

You could stand still and hope it works itself out.

You could make a sandwich.

Those are just a few possible ways you could try to figure out what to do in a Brink map that you don’t know how to complete, if you don’t have a bot there who knows already.

Linsolv : just for how I like to play, I really enjoy the first minutes/hours spent on a game, when you’re a noob and you’re still trying to understand its mechanisms, and the learning is really fast. Having bots doing things for me… I fear it would break that feeling.

There should be an option that disallows them to do objectives. AHAHAH NO IMMA DO THAT JUST SHOOT YOUR GUN option…butI’m with you JeP. Though I have a feeling I’m going to try and crush all the challenges first thing. Should give me a good idea on whats up ahead.

To an extent, I agree. Everything is better when there’s “magic.” To me, the really tasty thing is when you are trying to figure out the magic. The problem is that when you find it, you’ve just got a mathematical formula and now you’ve got to find new magic. :frowning: RUINS EVERYTHING. It’s like doing cocaine: ruins your life in many ways, but you always move on to more coke in the end cause ain’t nothing pleasurable like ruining your life.

Except that I don’t do coke, so… instead I listen to the same album on repeat 10+ hours a day and play the same game every day for a month.
