body types.

In the e3 interview with IGN they showed character customization with 3 diffrent body types and that the bigger you are the stronger you are which makes sense but i just hope the biggest you can get isnt a ridicules amount of health that completely unbalances online.:stroggtapir:

(tokamak) #2

Likewise a light type can be so ridiculously fast that it unbalances online.

(a-lil-old-lady) #3

Hopefully it is just a slight diffrence in health and speed and not like perks in call of duty were light weight is too fast and painkiller is just incredible unbalanced.

(Slade05) #4

Slight difference makes no difference.

(a-lil-old-lady) #5

So you would perfer to shoot someone with a whole clip and still not get the kill, or someone running the whole map without anyone even being able to get a shot of compared to it taking 3 more bullets if your the largest or if your the lightest the abilty to free run.
slight differences.

(tokamak) #6

The bigger the difference the more influencial the tactics become, the less difference the more influencial cognitive skills become.

I personally lean on the side of tactics, I like to ‘think’ my way to victory, I think a 80% tactics 20% hand-eye coordination (meaning that there’s a 20% chance you can ‘shoot’ yourself out of a relatively balanced situation without thinking) would be ideal. But I am aware this isn’t a shared view on this forum.

I think TF2 is too much on the tactics side, the classes determine the battle too much and it has turned into a really elaborate rock/paper/scissors game. ETpro however is too cognitive for me. The shooting aspect is so important that anything else tends to fade away into the background.

How far the difference should be taken is entirely a matter of taste, there’s no ‘optimal’ difference. This is where beta testing or balance patches will be needed in order to ensure we can set a value everyone can agree on.

Obviously, Brink has enough variables to cater to both preferences within the same match.

Slight differences make a big difference in the long run.

in ETQW 5 Medics vs 5 Technicians had a big advanatage.

GDF medics 120hp x 5 = 600hp total
Strogg Techs 100 x 5 = 500hp

Thats a 100hp total or an extra man to the GDF.

Stroy up makes a big difference. Then there are the weapons. Spawn hosts. I would say that supply crates are there to balance stroyent giving hp/ammo. Its a really weird balance, but I always found that strogg are better unless GDF stick to crate hugging.

(Jamieson) #9

Don’t forget the instant revive and the fact that GDF can switch weapons (to pistol) when reloading whereas strogg have to wait out on overheats.

I persoanlly think the AR is more lethal because of its faster rate of fire, well atleast in promod where the spread is reduced. I would say the Lacerator has the advantage in vanilla as the reduced ROF makes it more accurate. The strogg sticky grenades are nice for taking out vehicles suchas the titan though.

Im probably one of the few people who prefer GDF.

(INF3RN0) #10

I like the fact that its not a mirrored system, but sometimes I question the balance. Promod AR makes it feel a lot better, but pub isn’t too bad if you have the gun model off and you burst fire at distances.

5X100 hp = 100hp? comon!!! Well its the morning, I’m drunk and I find that the OP question doesnt deserve an answer or at least an answer ala RTFM! Does this make me an evil person?

Peace

I don’t see how this is relevant to bodytypes.

(LyndonL) #14

He was making a point that slight differences in stats do make a difference.

(AnthonyDa) #15

You can also travel/climb some area as a light body type only, which might allows you to be unseen and kinda invincible against your enemy

(Nail) #16

grenades remove invincibilities

(a-lil-old-lady) #17

If you look earlier on i mentioned that i hope that body differences only make slight differences in stats. someone then said that slight differences makes no difference.
He was proving a point that in other games even slight diffrences makes a big diffrences.

(tokamak) #18

I can call the difference between strogg and GDF in ETQW pretty minor.

(INF3RN0) #19

Really? They are pretty darn different in all areas lol… I think SD actually did a pretty decent job though, at attempting to make things different on two sides without causing too many problems (more than just the normal reskinned guns/vehicles/etc).

(DepressedOptimist) #20

Don’t forget that the larger body type is a larger slower target, despite his extra health. And despite the light body types speed, it will only take a couple well placed shots to take him down. I’m not worried, I do think they’ll be balanced.
