Completely off topic, but I found this kinda funny. I don’t think everyone knows. In fact, I don’t think even half of the people on here have no clue what ‘magic the gathering’ is, like me.
Body Types
I only understood his problem on the most basic level as I played a demo of MTG once.
Yes, with a fixed bodytype you might sometimes find yourself in situations not suited for your body. A light guy might have trouble holding back a group of opponents charging down a corridor, a heavy guy might frustratingly smash his keyboard because he wasn’t fast enough to get to the objective in time.
But those are the things you have to live with if you chose the light or heavy, if you’re afraid of such risks then just pick the medium guy.
actually, since i started lo-carbing back in september, i’d say i’ve got from a heavy body type to a normal body type (lost over 40 pounds now). and yet my speed didn’t seem to increase…
Personally I hope it is a TF2 heavy-scout dynamic where heavies cannot turn as fast, because that got annoying (when heavies would turn at max speed in hopes of finding and insti-killing you). Personally I think the heavier the weapon the lower the cap on turn speed, because seriously if you are turning with a minigun (or sniper) in your hands there should be a heck of a lot of rotational inertia (regardless of whether you are strong, you are slow to begin with).
Turrets should have this as well (assuming they have 360 degrees of motion), but considering they overheat, idk if I really care.
Then again you rarely see caps on turn speed outside of the use of tanks.
Not instantaneous would be appreciated though (because technically that defies the laws of physics).
[edit:] if anyone played battlefield 2142, walkers were extremely powerful, but if you got close enough to plant RDXs on them, they were screwed. The same thing should apply in this game, if the heavy doesn’t see you coming he is dead.
If the Heavy body type is still competent close range, I might even play operative, for this exact reason (because even if the heavy could simply touch the light body type, causing instant brain damage, the light should be able to shoot him point blank in the back, and have a fairly good odds of winning).
Personally, I think the ability of the light body type to go prone would solve a lot of things, but that’s never happening by now.
