Body Type System: Poll
If bodytypes (regardless of how they’re played) determine the outcome of a match then that means they’re unbalanced. You don’t solve that by reducing their importance by unlocking them, you solve that by adjusting them so that they become balanced.

You’re actually suggesting a cop out. Complacency is not a reason to remove or diminish a fun feature.
LOL. Wtf is it with you and throwing in cop out every response? I am not at all trying to diminish game play, I am simply worried that although there might be balance individually, it may be different on the team level. As long as everything is balanced from the inside out, then there is no reason to unlock body types as it would be unnecessary, but in order to do so body types could not play a very important role on the team level. Don’t you agree? I have said multiple times that as long as it is in fact possible to make such a thing work and explain that it does, then there is absolutely no reason to unlock them other than because someone wants it that way. I can bet you that the only reason people want unlocked is because at this point most people believe that body types will play a very important role.

No I do not. Body types could have the most drastic impact on the game and still be completely balanced. It only means that the player will have to drastically adjust his game-style. Versatility and improvisation will be two skill factors added to the game that haven’t played a role so much yet.

Look at starcraft and then 4vs4 mode, three vastly different races can be picked, they all need completely different strategies for each other. When a player enters the game he has no influence on the choices made by his team mates or enemies, still those choices have an insane effect on how the game will run. However this doesn’t ever mean that one team will ever have a lucky advantage over the other, if that were so it wouldn’t be South Korea’s national sport.

Again your looking at the whole thing from an individual aspect, which is only one of the issues. A player might be able to use different body types to a similar affect (still not confirmed), through approaching it in a different way on an individual scale, but how will this feature influence the overall team aspect. As in body type A brings in a different set of skills to the table, but will an over concentration still keep balance or is there a more measurably effective setup? These questions cannot be answered by you, but they should be none the less important to you.

And the circle is round again.

You are such a troll.

I really feel there is way too much blabla in this forum these days. I can’t read all this s*** any more

I hope that we can all more or less agree that on the standard servers body type locking would be the best just because it makes the character you choose and his abilities(/body type) so much more important and casual players will like that and will happily play the game… SD already figured that out I guess^^

But on the other hand I hope that we can all more or less agree that a server option for body type locking (or rather character locking) is essential so that competitive settings can be adjusted by the community and are not set in stone by the developers.
It is just the absolute worst way of doing it if you are telling people how to play this game competitively and the reason why CoD:MW2 failed sooo hard @ e-sport (IW was like “We want you to play like this so you have to. You cant change anything. blablabla”)

Sure but that’s a different discussion. And the same arguments go for competitive play as well.

I think that I will just trust that SD ensures that this won’t be an issue and have tested it from every aspect, even if they can’t say anything thus far. If it does have flaws, then hopefully it can be patched, otherwise modders can fix it and the community can get split as in the past :). Promod will be separate regardless of server options btw.

It won’t be the same as say vehicles vs infantry and vice-versa. Vehicles pretty much had the advantage over infantry. There were certain overcoming them, and not all class was suited for it. But with bodytypes, there is no advantage over the other. A light can best a heavy, a heavy can best a light, since it’s all about play-style. Think of TF2…a Scout vs Heavy…one is not better than other at base value, it’s all comes down to the skill of the people playing them. So if there was a match of all Lights vs all Heavies, there’s a good chance they are all heavy and light for a reason…because that’s what they are good at playing. Add to this the fact that you can change to any class you want, and the playing field is balanced. You have a team of all heavy medics, laying down fire with miniguns? Use what the Lights have to counter them…speed and mobility. Get behind them, surround them, flank them, get up high where they can’t reach…

I really don’t see an issue with locking body types…locking classes I could maybe see.

You might want to adjust your loadout based on what you see in the other team. Something tells me that low-rate high-damage weapons work better against heavies and high-rate low-damage work better against lights.

It’s an interesting concept, which would also be lost as well if the team you’re encountering could adjust on the fly like that.
