Bleeding XP?

(SIiced Bread) #1

What happen to that? I really really liked that. It was better then the counter you see in recent scenes. With the GREEN 25xp at the end of finishing them off. That was a brilliant change from the normal.

Also…has SD thought about giving it’s community an exclusive skin or Tattoo? That would be simple, cheap, and show the community a little “thanks for hangin in there for the past 2 years” lol.

Just some thoughts.

It seems that a counter is shown underneath the current person your shooting. It counts up the xp as you shoot(for each bullet) and then adds the final amount when you die. It’s less distracting to me…

Ooo a badge for your chest that says “SD Forum Whore” for all posters over 1000 posts

I seen that in the new stuff. Just like the older version of the visual counter. Distractions aren’t really a concern. This game is working of brilliance and I thought that was one aspect of proof.

(Seyu) #5

Apparently, there were more people who didn’t like it.

(SIiced Bread) #6

Bummer. It’s not like I ask for female colors on the XP counter. Just a little bleeding of it.

O well. Like I said, not a ‘game changer’ by any means.

the HUD is clustered enough as it is.

(SIiced Bread) #8

That will be toggled OFF after a few rounds. There isn’t much you need to see a hud in most games. Ammo, sure…but not necessary. Plus if the solider on your team is doing his job you won’t need it either.

personally i like the exp showing as you get it. i waited aaages for borderlands and while i like the game its a bit empty but any game where u lvl up its nice to see the exp accumulating, every bullet is one step closer to that next skill or upgrade.

as for the hud i like the fact we have been given a life bar instead of the CoD style screen blood, its much more accurate and means we can decide weather we can handle charging into a room or something of the like. lol

I kinda liked the XP bleeding too, at least in some of the early footage I saw. Who knows how annoyed I’d actually end up being the longer I played. Kinda like the girl with the really cute, squeaky voice, tends to become grating after a while. You know what I’m talkin about! Eh!? Yeah!

(trigg3r) #11

never liked it, so i’m glad it was removed

(Cortosis 12) #12

I enjoyed the older xp thing where the xp is green and fades as you mentioned.

(A.i) #13

I like the new one - doesn’t distract as much (old one felt too arcadish), but still counts by staying in one spot
I’d rather see blood spilling out instead of XP

(mortis) #14

Clearly, the cut-off should be a more modest 888 posts…

Anyone from the Dev team wanna chime in? Just curious why it was removed.

There are some things about this game that I do like and some that are being changed toward more mainstream. Bleeding XP…grenade splash sounds (but not bullet)…these are things that changed to be MORE LIKE others.

Either way, I’m buying the game. There is only soooooo much CoD I can play. After 4 years I am all Military Shooter’d out.

(tokamak) #16

I really hope it stays away. It’s as subtle as the town crier regarding hit indication. It also sends the completely wrong message regarding what’s important in the game.

(Mustkunstn1k) #17

Probably because the visuals are cluttered enough already…

(SIiced Bread) #18

The bleeding wasn’t cluttering…really. It was bleeding. It didn’t go all DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION on someone. It was a cool effect. Actually the first one that caught my interest into the game.

Certainly not the only one…but the first…yes.

If anything, it could have been an OPTION added. The same as others the ACTUALLY use blood as the graphic for being shot. They might have…one never knows.

(DarkangelUK) #19

There was a quite a backlash when the 1st vid came out showing it… maybe that combined with comments from in-house testing caused them to change it.

(tokamak) #20

Are we talking about the same kind of xp bleeding? The kind of bleeding that managed to fill exactly your scope with obnoxious scores?
