the problem is most likely that in your material editor, you didn’t specify where the texture is located.
right next to the material picker dropper thing, type in the location of your skin file:
What I ask myself: how do you specify which shader to use?
Here you put a texture on, but how does it know the corresponding shader?
the image in the model directory corresponds to the shader…
- models_multiplayer.Shader > models/multiplayer/satchel/satchel_allied
connects directly to the image @ > models/multiplayer/satchel/satchel_allied
Somethings also depend if they need to be different for each team or if it is the same for each team > I.E. “satchels”
Scripts > models_weapons2.shader
which corresponds to the allies satchel .SKIN file
which corresponds to the satchel.WEAP file portion for team differentials
For a regular model to change skins…just create a .skin file and place it into the same directory as the .md3. Change as needed.
In models\multiplayer\satchel\satchel_allied.skin >
I changed the header line from > "Satchel,“models/multiplayer/satchel/satchel_allied”
TO: > “Satchel,“models/multiplayer/satchel/satchel_axis””
and got this > an allied satchel with the axis skin >
I hope that explains enough, otherwise I will extend on it…

As Dime says, set your material name to the shader name in max, then export to MD3 from max - no need for Milkshape.
If you use Milkshape, you need to edit the QC file that the menu option generates, as it is only a generic file.
Look here for how to use Milksape properly to make an MD3: http://www.paposo.com
EDIT: Hmm, looks like the site is down. I’ll see if I have an image of it I can upload later.
