Reinstalling the game did in fact work. It IS a missing smoke texture that causes the issue.
Ok So for the first hour I owned the game it worked fine, albeit a bit slow but my comp isn’t the greatest and I was in a listen server so I expected it to be a bit slow. Anyway I quit for about an hour and restarted it and the cutscene now have blue boxes all over the place in them(sorry I didn’t get a screenshot) and in game when I shoot at something, I saw this http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595810667887965602/D897691CBA3C3C7C6132308C167D4BF7969CFC10/ . Additionally, when I shot an enemy, they turned into a giant blue rectangle and the sprinkler in the aquarium has a rotating blue square around it. I have no idea what caused it, but the game is really fun and I just want to fix it so I can play again.
THINGS I TRIED TO FIX IT.
- Restarted steam and computer.
- Changed all video settings, including those in the cfg file. Nothing happened.
- Verified Game Files twice. Both times Steam redownloaded about a meg of data but it again had no effect.
- Defraged Game Cache. No Effect.
- Updated Drivers. Surprisingly I got a fps boost in the menu AND in game but the blue squares continued.
- Currently reinstalling as a last measure to try and fix it because I figured why not and it’ll redownload in an hour anyway. I’ll update this post if it actually fixes this issue
HARDWARE
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Intel Core I3 M 330 Quad core at 2.13 GHz, 4 gig RAM, Nvidia Geforce 310M 2 Gig VM. Yeah I know, LAPTOP GAMES LOL, but I can run Crysis on high settings, Bad Company 2 on High and GTA IV on medium with little to no lag so I figured this would work fine and it does minus the blue squares. Any help would be appreciated, and apparently I’m not the only one having this issue so that makes me feel a bit better.
