Bighogins Time to Chime in

(bighogins) #1

Ok Its been a while since Bighogins has posted but now that we have some players on the US servers I can give you guys a piece of my mind on whats going on. First thing since this new patch came out, the objective looks like a 5 gallon milk jug and if you hit someone with it, it should do a ton of damage and the visual should be there skull getting crushed. If you make the doc runner defense less its going to make the game need to be played 7v7 to compensate for the runner to be escorted. Not a good competitive move in my opinion better off switching it back.

Second issue Hogins would like to talk about is the land mines. I understand giving classes attributes but having to run around and worry about land mines slows play down. Along with the shot gun being over powered for some small female character armed to the teeth with it. While the soldier is made slow and has a hunch back of Notre Dame look. BigHogins does not approve of this addition to the Engineer class.

Third thing is at this point in the testing we should be making positive changes not going to a polar opposite. The game was solid when the last patch came out. Now some of the maps have a deep fog on it. Not sure how that was so drastically changed. I understand that Inferno says he has a higher mastery maybe he could fix it.

Fourth and final thing for tonight. The soldier primary weapon and secondary weapon need to be flopped. Why would Bighogins ever want to start out with a pee shooter. Give Bighogins the Gatling gun and let him bull people over. I dont have the patience to have to switch every time I spawn or get revived. What the hell is this Russia?

Please splash damage switch back to the previous patch and call it a night.

You don’t like flapjack wars?

(nailzor) #3

I love throwing out pancakes to people

(INF3RN0) #4

Never seen this guy in alpha before…

(Bananas) #5

Why is this posted in the competition forum? And why did you feel the need for your own thread? Put it in the patch notes thread like everyone else, please.

Wrong, this is exactly the time when we need to be making drastic changes and trying out a load of different options to see what works and what doesn’t, it’d be a stupid idea to wait until beta for such things which is when most things should be nailed down and consistent, but right now is all about the big changes.

Yep! No idea why people can’t distinguish between forum sections.

@bighogins here is the right thread for you: http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/35010-DIRTY-BOMB-UPDATE-Version-16895/page5

bighogins doesn’t play by the rules. He posts where he wants.

(Hundopercent) #9

Every hoggins post needs to be its own thread. He’s the ****en King people.

Drastic changes are fine. Drastic changes in the wrong direction is a waste of time for everyone. I would have rather had a colored crosshair and movement clean up instead of playing DirtySpam.

But he doesn't want to seem self obsessed
So he writes in third person
In an attempt to seem more rock 'n' roll
But he suspects it's not workin'

I think bighogins’ message was more of: “stupid ideas shouldn’t have to be tested”

(Mustang) #12

It’s interesting to note that not everyone thinks as the changes in patch as stupid ideas.

In fact from my observation it has been the non-comp players that have welcomed the changes, whom arguably represent a larger proportion of DB’s target market (although under represented in alpha).

I will be more than willing to redirect them to Blacklight Retribution or Call of Duty Modern War Ops XI if they want a game loaded with explosives, 1HK items etc. There are tons of games like that already lets not plague another.

How can you tell if it’s the right or wrong direction without testing?

Since the last update a fair few people are acting like SD broke into their homes, tea bagged them and violated their arse with a banana and anyone who doesn’t mind the changes helped to pin them down…

Since some people paid to get into the closed Alpha I could see why they’re upset. Testing is fine, we don’t mind testing, that’s what we’re here for. For me, I don’t like wasting time. To me, and I only include myself as to not offend hyper sensitive forum dwellers, this patch is a waste of time. It is considerably worse than jack the ripper medics from a month ago because you actually had to stab twice and be in melee range. Now it’s shoot once at mid range. There is nothing for us to test on that weapon, it’s blatantly OP and should have been tweaked before coming to us. Instant armed Mines? Another thing I don’t think we should be testing (they should have a 2 second or so arm time.) To reiterate, that is just me and my opinion. Perhaps my expectations are too high.

The objective thing I disagree with because it has been voiced that the game feels clunky and lacks rhythm (and not just by me.) So the fix? More clunkiness… I am having trouble understanding how I am the only person seeing these changes as contradictory to what we’ve been voicing as a problem.

My irritated behavior, or tantrums as some call it, are from people further suggesting to add more clunkiness to the game like arming mines.

It is expected for me to see from others perspectives and be receptive to their opinions, which I can be if they make sense or assist in resolving a problem (without breaking something else of course.) Adding to the problem is not something I will be open to and when it comes from the same people over and over again I will not have patience for them.

Believe it or not I’m pretty easy to get along with, just don’t be an annoying ****en idiot and we’re good.
Instant armed Mines? Another thing I don’t think we should be testing (they should have a 2 second or so arm time.)
Pretty sure mines do have a delay before being armed.

(INF3RN0) #17

I agree with Styrch that a lot of those things need such changes implemented. I don’t like the current mine mechanic of just drop and run, and I think the shotgun needs tweaking or maybe an overall change in functionality. The carry mechanic itself seems unnecessary to me personally, though I like the pickup and transmit timer. Even if some things were pretty silly I am fine with testing anything.

(Hundopercent) #18

I had 2 flap jacks hand delivered to my ankles today and they instantly exploded. It’s possible that they threw it down and shot it and I just wasn’t paying attention but it felt near instant (within the weapon switch time frame.)

I would suggest trying a 2-3 second arm time (not manual just set and forget) and the mine can’t be shot down until armed.

(Nail) #19

tried one a couple minutes ago, mines have a delay, not instant arm

(Hundopercent) #20

In response to my situation Nailzor advised that what is probably happening is the engi threw it at me and since I was shooting him (engi) I hit the mine and it blew up in my face which makes sense.
