back to BF2142 PR people,
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=142297
senior producer Marcus Nilsson went on the record to tell us that BF2142 will be “A lot less buggy than Battlefield 2 - and you can write that down.”
worst. PR. ever.
Only 1 question about Doom3 Engine (Didn’t noticed it since Prey Demo o_O). Why did you take out bsp format?
In Doom3 maps are not compiled. So if you wanted you could open up the .map file and edit it.
That’s an excellent video. This video shows the exact reason why I have never been a fan of the Battlefield series. Running/driving around for 80% of the time without anything to do than spotting enemy movement.
Only 1 question about Doom3 Engine (Didn’t noticed it since Prey Demo o_O). Why did you take out bsp format?
i belive this is because the main change in doom3 engines from quake 3 engines is the differance in the amount of pre procesing. a good example of this is light, in q3 it saved a lot of procesing time when running but with doom3 the newer PC’s could handel the greater demand therfore traded of performace to allow the levels to be more dynamic
check out that dice vid, scroll forward to minute 27:00 up to the question “why should i go out and buy 2142 instead of quake wars?”:

this guy is clearly running out of arguments when it comes to a comparison between the two games, in other words: he has none. obviously they fear quake wars. i mean “we’ve been doing this longer” … erm … is he nuts to use it as an argument after the bf2 screw-up? then why is their engine so crappy? and “we’ve defined this type of gameplay” ??? they also define the word crap, so wazz-up? and concerns about expanded gameplay in quake wars ??? no open gameplay ??? better see for yourself because if i continue writing i’ll prolly get banned here for using bad language …
“We’ve been doing this longer, and we’ve really kind of defined this type of gameplay” Comparing BF gameplay to ET gameplay? :eek2:  :eek2:
Oh… my… God…
We really… eh… defined… eh… this type of gameplay
CTF gameplay? Domination gameplay? What gameplay?
lol, hes just talkin shit^^
“quake is fairly liminated in your options” “no cool ways to play & kill ppl and have fun on the battlefield”
the guys has asked him about quakewars and hes talkin about quake -.-
perhaps they have been sitting in the sun longer then SD
stange how differnt the battle field and ET gameplay are yet he seems to think he has been doing the ET gameplay longer. you think when trying to sell a game you would know something about the compotion and be able to give a niceer answer of why a bf player would prefer the bf game over the ET style. shurley if doing things longer was the case then they should just emply old people after all they are been doing most things longer then the rest of us
he’s the PR guy from Team Fortress and he’s talking about the classes system, objectives etc.
oh no wait, he works for EA so he has no clue of what he’s talking about. haahha how can he say that
oh and btw, for the BF series fans:
take care, and don’t believe a word of what that guy tells ya (except when he says that SD guys are pretty talented, because it’s the only true thing he says).
J
Perhaps he meant FPS with big open spaces and drivable vehicles, in which case, the BF series is certainly one of the pioneers. You could argue that Tribes did that first, but it is a very different game. Of course, from the looks of things, ET:QW will be a very different game too
Open spaces? Just the first that comes to mind: Operation Flashpoint (22 June 2001). For sure there are more.
