(crosses fingers in hopes that Wils can work something out)

@Joe999 It’s redundant that you say people are “immature” and then continue with insults.
…become a debate coach, leave gaming to us.

ok, will start with you. show me where i did that and who i insulted with which words. and please also consider the context like when i was told that i should eg kill myself.

(EB) #64

Anyone remember enemy-territory the movie ?

or the “Quake TM symbol” originating in the movie “Gung-Ho” a few years before Quake was even alive.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091159/ (the symbol is the same as the japanese car company in that movie)

Looks like someone like 80’s movies.

(ayatollah) #65

Oh dear God man, it was a joke made by comedian Bill Hicks, I’m sorry that you have no sense of humour. And I said IF you worked in marketing to kill yourself. If you don’t then…don’t.

Problem with jokes is that not everyone understand this as joke.

Please stop bashing each other.
Discussing yes (and as said above it’s good to have all opinions here).
Bashing no!

As we haven’t heard anything from anyone me thinks they are working on a demo ATM to release it ASAP.

(Joe999) #68

if i cite a german comedian (in english of course) in the same way like you wrote it, then i wonder about your “sense of humour”

and well, you didn’t actually write “if you don’t then don’t”, in fact you wrote No seriously…do! :frowning:

i wonder about the other non english people, if they thought that your statement was meant in a funny way

(ayatollah) #69

Where’s my VPL buddies they’ll understand… :uhoh:

(Ragnar_40k) #70

You should have at least marked it as kind of quote. Not everyone does know Bill Hicks. And I bet nearly all in this forum don’t know this specific joke you refer to. And w/o knowing this is intented to be a joke its serious stuff.

(kamikazee) #71

I thought those phrases were meant funny when I read them. It’s just so extremely explicit that it can’t be serious, at least not for these forums. :blah:

Could we head back to the main problem, being Activision wanting to add another domain name?

(LetumVos) #72

Well, I’ve been playing ET for over two years. It’s the only FPS I keep coming back to. And though I don’t get to enemy-territory.com as often as I used to, I STILL go there on occasion for a look at news, forum chat, etc. It’s a shame that a company like Activision can’t see that what they’re doing by trying to snatch this URL is hurting them more than the domain belonging to someone else. I can tell you this for sure though, if Activision follow through on this threat I’ll never play a game of ET:QW as long as I live. I really don’t NEED another damned game anyway. It’s time for companies to respect the people they SERVE not take advantage of them.

(nUllSkillZ) #73

Seems that ET.fr is afraid of loosing their domain:
ET-FR en danger ?
As far as I get it they haven’t receveived a letter / email from idâ„¢ / Activisionâ„¢ yet.

(carnage) #74

to comment on some of the aboive points

i dont think they want the site because its ET based inforamtion that could be misiterprted. its because someone accidently inputing the url to the official site might end up here with the names being very similar. i myself have done this and realsied my mistake of course but they are probably worried about people who are not so informed about ET

perhaps you could argue the fact thatt your site has been around much longer and they did not defend there tradmark then and so should not be allowed to take it now

(Homer J) #75

OTOH it is two words from the English language therefore it belongs to the English.

/me sues Activision and id on behalf of England.

(EB) #76

I am sure that activision has used Green somewhere and I, being Irish(and german), could sue for use of color assimilated to ethnic stereotype.

:stuck_out_tongue:
(it’s so silly in here already)

(Nail) #77

we don’t want money, we want to keep our site

(nUllSkillZ) #78

Interesting find:

  • link doesn’t work anymore - please see below second EDIT -
Not sure if similar “typings” are included.
So if “enemy-territory” is also included.
    Or “enemyterritory”.
Edit:

Not sure what dead means.
If it’s like I think someone should be quick and register “Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory”.

Edit:

Argh I’ve locked out.
Now the link above isn’t working anymore.
You can go to http://www.uspto.gov/ -> Trademarks -> Search Trademarks -> New User Form Search (Basic)
And then search for “enemy territory”.

Sadly, the site is a shadow of its former self, many people leaving due to the horrendous ads for German porn and the offhandish way peoples concerns were dealt with.

There was a considerable degree of anger with regard to the hack, which is understandable. That anger was redirected to the forum membership imo. Three people in this thread have stated they don’t go on it any more. Out of 400,000 ‘members’ that seems insignificant, though the vast majority of those members are because you had to sign up to download the game.

It is possible Activision have seen this abusive attitude and decided it is time to pull the plug. I know if the attitudes shown by some of the admins on that site were in the name of my product, I would certainly be seeking something similar to what Activision is doing to preserve the good name of my product.

I, for one, will be buying the new game when it comes out, and will not be a party to any boycott for this reason alone. If something more sinister was shown from their part, I would be all for the little guy.

(Mezuke) #80

All those saying ET is ‘dead’ after ET:QW should really stop talking, and get a clue before they start again.

Sad.

I agree, activision trying to kill off ET… but ET won’t die, I can gurantee ET:QW won’t be good for competition, which is where the money is.
