Better instructions needed on bridge

(torsoreaper) #1

Ok I have noticed a serious pattern on both attack and defend for bridge. Nobody knows they are fighting over the barricade. I actually had a level 6 player say “i’ve never played this map before” to me. I really tried helping explain to my team but nobody cared, everyone was going after the EV. Ironically, someone on the opposite team shouted in all chat “Forget about repairing the EV, defend the C4!!”. I thought that was pretty funny.

Also, everyone on my clueless team also pushed out as far as they could away from the samples on the final stage. It was just one other guy with me lonely trying to guard the samples in the room. Really, really depressing match. The more I play this game, the more I think I lose my faith in humanity. I try explaining in chat, “just stay near the room and guard the samples if you want to win”. I don’t know how much better to explain the strategy… :frowning:

Also defenders never fall back to cover the last objective stage. It’s considered an advanced strategy to just straight rush the containers and deliver them before the defenders are done dying on the EV bridge.

Also once the attackers grab one container, all defenders just respawn and run down the right lane after them, and one attacker ALWAYS stays inside to straight grab the second container right away. Might as well only have one container, with how the respawn time is longer than the time it takes to run out and deliver and grab the second container.

I’ve seen so many even games get completely thrown by the defenders at the last stage.

I don’t believe this was intended to happen because the doors to the building open AS soon as the ev shoots it as oppose to it opening during the next defender spawn as it should.

This, and it has been happening more and more as of late, When I first started playing DB a few months back everyone kind of understood setting up a strong defense in and around the building was key to holding off defeat, heck even I knew that and I was a neoowb (noob and newb) at the time (still kind of am too).

Most defense games on bridge now seem to end up with me being literally the only guy inside on the last stage and everyone else rushing the delivery point. Nothing wrong with trying to keep them pinned down, but if there is even one chink in the armor, by which I mean one route not covered, then it is quite simple for a sneaky merc to just run pass all the chaos, grab the objective and deliver it with ease after the attacking team kill 1 or 2 of them, which I have managed to do in at least the last 4 games on offense I have played on that map. Whereas a few weeks ago I could not even get into the building due to rhino’s on health stations, aura’s, fletchers/fraggers/naders etc keeping everyone at bay.

Although there is another issue even with higher level players on offense who choose only to attack through the main entrance instead of having an even flank on all 3 entry points to keep the pressure on the defense, but hey who cares about tactics anyway xD. Seriously guys you have more than 1 route into that building so USE THEM!!!

Yeah… it’s sad how barricade room (even tho attackers can damage the generator easily with explosives and molotov but not that many have realized it) and the sample room are somewhat easy to defend in pubs, especially with well placed turret (a spot I shared with one community and a guy from the community tried it out), but… people just don’t…

Of course, one reason why defending can be… derpy… at the times is because quite many don’t seem to be having any sort of awareness what’s going on… which is quite hilarious when 5 guys are defending the right flank, only 2 enemies try to push through there and none of the 5 gu

At the stage where EV waits for the barricade to open I’d have one tip.

Do repair the EV only up to 99%, wait for the C4 to blow the power gen and then repair the remaining 1% to quickly move over the barricade.

I’ve seen folks repairing it over and over and once finally the gate opened, the EV was disabled. What a disaster. Bear in mind that while the EV is disabled its existing health cannot be reduced.

@SereneFlight I was in a game where all 5 people were defending the main entrance, and then one attacker just walked in on the opposite side, grabbed the objective and walked back out.

Might of been me xD

And there’s always will be one dork who will finish repair no matter what you say.

Yea I usually try this because I’m proxy so I can repair the EV so I use my mutant speed to run and try to steal at least one container while booby trapping the defense room.

Increased respawn really makes things hard. But I have seen what you mention happen even without a team wipe. Everyone on the team rushes like a chicken with their head cut off trying to get back the first sample and nobody wants to stay behind in case they actually deliver leaving the back door wide open to a back to back steal. Very disheartening indeed.

I remember the first time I ever played the last stage of bridge, I spawned in as a defender. I had no idea where people were coming from since I spawned into the last stage and didn’t know the map at all. All I knew was, we’re in this room and they need this objective that is right next to me. This room seems pretty easy to defend, I’ll just camp here. Why I could grasp that as a level 1 and we have people who are level 10 who do not grasp it… >.<

For better or worse, I guess I’m glad to see I’m not the only one running into pubs where nobody knows what they’re doing no matter how obvious.

It happened that to me a few days ago. I typed in chat “Why did you repair ? Is pointless”
