Better fueldump defences

Hi,

I’m hosting a clanserver, but some people discovered how to trickjump over the basedefences. It’s really getting annoying the fueldumpgame (and sometimes oasis) only takes about 3 minutes. I also don’t want to put dubble jump off, since that’s just great future. I first wanted to know if there are any mapscript available that block trickjumping or improve the fences? Or maybe just a start on how to script such mapscript? I tried scripting myself, but for some strange reason it didn’t work, so I’d like some help/examples.

I believe that double jump is just asking for it.

Whilst trick-jumping still takes skill and a right opportunity, a lonely engineer wandering off to the unguarded fueldump could easily get in if he double-jumps onto the guard post, then onto the wall.

Changing the maps is not that usefull, or people would mostly run into invisible walls when they jump from a higher place. (Eg. some axis player jumping from the roof above the fueldump)

The only way to overcome double-jumping and trickjumping in general is to lock down all possible ways the enemy could go.

There is only one way you can jump over the walls (which the tank later destroys). I hope you know what I mean: That small building next to the main entrance, if you jump on that you can jump on the wall and go towards the basedefence and fuel dump. Is it possible to delete that small building?

servers should have rules about it. you can just simply be an allied engineer and just from the start, start jumping and then plant, takes 3min. maybe a bit of a modification might be useful, make it so that you can’t plant before the tank has blown the depot doors(but that kills the covert ops mission).

Well if you delete that small building I talked about in my last post, you can only get to the fueldump by getting the tank to blow up the doors.

You can’t remove it when it is compiled into the map, and it is. Scripting can only operate on entities.

hmm, you can jump almost everything, so to block allies, axis can’t get out.

Well, someone else from a other forum sayd I had to work with “additional (invisible) fake brushes” with Etpro scripting, but he didn’t know how. I can’t register at the Etpro forums (they don’t accept free email services), so I tried it here. someone got info about “additional (invisible) fake brushes”?

The ‘fake brushes’ your talking about can’t be used… They would also block the axis from jumping from the basewall onto the little house…

And there are more ways for TJ’s to get in, than that little house.

You could just take DJ of on that single map, I know that you can do that on NQ but I don’t know about ETpub/ETpro…

and placing the fake brushes above the basedefence fences? So they block people from jumping over? That’s the main problem.

That would also work on the axis = they can’t jump down…

Couldn’t the fakebrushes be part of the constructible?
So if the fences are build the fakebrushes are there.
If they are not build they aren’t there.

The best way to start mapscripting is to decompile the map.
Only (repeat: only) to get 3D information where the brushes (or if you want to add entities: the entities) have to be put.

The problem is solved, I scripted several fake brushes in the map and all known routes are blocked, while Axis can still enter the fuel dump by roof. Tomorrow I’ll know if it really helped, because people will join.

if just ET had an entity that will block a specific team(tho a trigger_push could be made like that).

Loffy has created some team specific doors in Darji 2 (Final).
I’ve done also a FD mapscript that uses such doors to prevent that allies can entry the axis FD spawn.
Did not work perfect (I got reports that it’s possible to go through wider doors if you use adrenaline or got pushed).

I want to correct you though: ETPub (and possibly NoQuarter) added double jump as a feature. It was never intended to be used in the original game. (And didn’t even exist there.)
