BETA NIGHT!

I got an idea yesterday that i shared with some fellow mappers. So i though i would let the crowd speak.

The basic idea is to have 1 or 2 evenings per week where a selected team of BETA testers would come to a server and try out maps in BETA stage that wont be released to the public before they reached FINAL stage.

So how to do this?
Well i can provide a server, location in Sweden on a 10mbit connection. The server has worked well even for the rest of Europes citizens.
To become one of the tester you will need to fill out a form that tells us info about you and also that u sign it saying you wont share the maps with anyone else after the tests.

Every new BETA NIGHT would have new maps and a new server password. So on the day before the test you will recieve an e-mail with download location and the server pass and ip for the evenings testrun.

As a tester you would also have to write a report on bugs and other issues after the test or you will not be on the team for next BETA night.

Would anyone be interested in this work?

Mappers would have to contact the BETA NIGHT management team at least 2 days before the test with their latest build downloadable.

If this idea can be done then it will gain the while community as the maps released would be much better from the start.

I will supply booth the page, download and server so u dont have to worry about that.

Yeah, I had a few of my maps beta tested and beta tested for other mappers when TramDesign started up a weekly test about a year ago, it was very helpful and did improve the quality of the public releases for everyone. Im not sure if they still do the tests or not. It would be great if this could get organized and off the ground… The people on the TramDesign forums are real nice I am sure they will help if they can.

I will certainly be willing to test.

I’d be very interested in helping, tried mapping but couldn’t even do a single room.

http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/tramdesign/ yep yep

In fact, they have been sending out emails searching for more beta testers. I did about 5-6 betas at the start, but then kinda dropped it. Its a great system they got going on though.
