I have a building that has several large windows on either side of it. I have lights inside hung from the ceilings but I’m trying to figure out how best to create some natural light coming in from the windows. I was thinking about making a shader for the window texture to have it emit light (although not sure how to do that) but is there a good way to create a natural type ambient light like this? Thanks.

You’re best bet will be to fake it. Use either several spots or even more point lights with low light values that decrease as they get further fopmr the window and spread out. Use the fade key with smaller values on lights further from the window to make the light seem to spread out.

Sky shader with q3map_sun defined at an angle… so the light hits the side of the building, goes through the windows, etc.

Yeah sun is a great effect, but it depends if you want it to light the whole outside or not. And the sun will go through EVERY window that faces it. Sometimes a better effect can be acheived doing it by hand. All depends on the situation/theme.
