Best Team Set Ups

(Jess Alon) #1

I know a lot of you guys have been day dreaming about this. What you guys think the perfect set up for your 8 man team would be if you could micro manage it down to the body type class specialization, weapons carried, and tactics used by each individual member?

And name your objective as well. As not every configuration is going to be optimal for every goal.

(tokamak) #2

Obviously this is all going to be highly dependent on the environment and the objective.

So perhaps you shouldn’t think in 8 man setups, but more in therms of couples or trios being effective together.

A heavy engineer with an upgraded heavy weapon while a light covert supplies him with information can be a nice search and destroy couple who can do surgical strikes on the enemy.

A heavy soldier and medic are a brilliant ‘walking supply crate’ being the backbone for the rest of the team.

Any class medium/heavy paired with a light medic could be great for surprise objective steals.

This is just possibilities, I have no idea how this will turn out in reality, but I imagine that in ways like described above, two or three friends grouped up together can do tremendous things.

(BioSnark) #3

1 objective class, 1 soldier, 6 medics.

(tokamak) #4

That’s going to be easily beaten by 1 objective class, 1 soldier, and 1 engineer dedicated to buffing weapons, and 5 medics.

(BioSnark) #5

oh? I think my speculation is better than urs!

(Kinjal) #6

8 fat medics

(BomBaKlaK) #7

8 skiny soldiers with pistols ! :stuck_out_tongue:

(DarkangelUK) #8

That’s the entire Canadian army after exchange rates

(SockDog) #9

Objective: Steal Objective
Team: Clooney, Pitt, Damon, … Wait! What?

(Nail) #10

careful there, at least our army doesn’t wear skirts

(DarkangelUK) #11

You say that like it’s a bad thing, kilts rock!

(Vaporman) #12

There is an individual I see frequently in the local Wal-Mart whose wardrobe consists of button up shirts (buttoned up all the way, mind you), a kilt, and knee high old man socks. In this particular instance, the kilt DOES NOT rock.

(DarkangelUK) #13

Wal-Mart is a different plain of existence, anything that happens in that place doesn’t count towards the real world!

I wonder what the “normal” comp team size will be. I’m thinking (hoping) maybe 5 guys? I could see it going to 4v4 since it’s infantry only, and smaller teams are easier to field, but I hope the standard is at least5 so there’s some variety and options for a little more strategy.

I’m sure we’ll see a variety, but seems like one team size ends up becoming the “standard” after a while.

(brbrbr) #15

depend team skillz[including teamplay skills].
depend tactic/strategy. also for example, “Better one skilled soldier, than two useless covertops”-case.
“in general” case, balanced[per/class]teams win easier[ie without serious class disbalance].

Heavy Engineer AND Medic w/miniguns with 2 medium soldiers with AR type rifles to increase flexibility in mobility

1 light operative SMG 1 medium medic shotgun to rush the objective and clear hallways

Heavy/Medium Soldier team with grenade launcher/shotgun respectively to soften up the strong points

I would use this layout to power through most situations I think layering the different body types would present a lot of situations where one is low ground but the other is in high ground providing crossfire

My biggest problem is whenever someone gets separated from his squad it’ll somewhat decrease effectiveness. At least if everyone was going by my plan of attack. But when is everyone on the same page?

(Crytiqal) #17

 how can you even say something like this when you don’t even know any of the maps yet?

(Jess Alon) #18

It’s just fun speculation. Why so serious?

(tokamak) #19

Sure it’s speculation, but your combo saturates a specific asset while it lacks a different one entirely.

I hope it will be 8, that’s what the game is balanced around after all. it should be up to the social facilities in the game to make it easy for 8 guys to group up together at specific times. (like Battle.net does)

For fun matches yeah sure 8v8 but I think we will see 6v6 or less for competition matches purely for logistical reasons as with most games.

How many teams signed up for all them 12v12 no rule leagues in ET:QW that happened early on? not many.
