i really dont care about secondary weapons ( i only dont enjoy tølen)
if you can aim its really not a big deal
It depends on the merc. For people like Fragger, it’s better to have the S&W or the Deagle because characters like that are all about close-range stopping power. Mercs like Kira and Arty are about DPS and ranged suppression, so they’re better with the Caulden or M9.
Don’t know why you seem to think that Thunder and Kira are not ‘about’ close-range stopping power…
In my opinion the Deagle/Simeon/S&W are better if you trying to finish off ONE low health merc (since their DPS is much higher and their small magazine doesn’t matter if you’re only trying to do a little bit of the final damage to kill someone), while the M9 is better if you are out of ammo with your primary weapon (since the M9/Selbstadt has much more damage per magazine than any other sidearm, so in the process of killing an enemy from full health you won’t need to reload as many times as you would with the high-powered pistols).

I was tired, sorry, I meant Arty and Kira, not Thunder. Thunder is definitely close-range and has access to the S&W. The S&W is really, really powerful; you can kill rhinos with 3-4 headshots with it and it’s fully semi-automatic. Also, Kira is meant to be a ranged fire support merc, not a CQC character, hence why she has the burst fire rifles and the Dreiss AR.
The magazine size is absolutely also a good reason why the ranged mercs are better with the light pistols, as you have to be really accurate with the heavy ones and that’s best done in CQC, much like the shotguns.

True, it’s easier to be accurate in close range so that does make the magnums better in those ranges than long range, but their small magazine size means that they have to reload a LOT. The requirement to reload is ALWAYS more of a hassle the closer you are to your opponent, as in long range you can’t be pushed while you’re reloading but if you’re in close range and you stop shooting your opponent can rush you and kill you while you can’t shoot back. That’s why the S&W is so terrible versus multiple enemies and is risky vs mercs who haven’t been damaged yet - you have to go through that long-ass reload animation (unless you’re a GOD and you can actually hit all headshots).

It’s the same deal as with the shotgun, except it’s meant to be used as a last-ditch weapon when your primary runs out of ammo, so chances are that the person you were shooting at is already low on health and will die in 1-2 shots. This is not to mention that you can just run in and quickly fire all 6 shots and kill even Rhinos pretty instantaneously.
I like MP400.
What ?
who doesnt like dink dink dink machine…
Favourite pistol, probably the SW. Favourite machine pistol, probably the Tolan. I would say the MP400 but the Tolans recoil is a little more predictable. Personally I hate the empire-9, the circular recoil they give it drives me mental.
easier for spray and pray on the empire-9, it was meant to spray people in close range and it does a good job with it.
i personally like it because leon used it on Resi-4

Simeon and the M1911 are my favorites.
Both are capable of shredding enemies with great accuracy, without losing DPS.
I really, really like the Simeon. Sometimes I’ll take a Fletcher loadout with it and use it as a handheld sniper. Plus the look and feel is just plain orgasmic.
I also like the Selbstadt. It’s a perfect middle ground between the M9 and the Caulden. Again, sometimes I’ll run around with Aimee, throw down the Snitch and 2-shot the guy right in front of me. It’s also got decent iron-sights, which really helps me.
The Simeon is actually very similar in damage and range to the S&W, much like how the Sebstadt and the M9 share most of the same stats(main difference is the accuracy).
