Best DREISS Loadout?

(Laionidas) #1

So, against general consensus, the Dreis AR has become my favourite gun. I’ve always had a thing for semi auto non-sniper weapons (counting the Grandeur SR as a semisniper), and it seems it holds up for this game as well. Now I was wondering what the best loadout would be.

  • D72 seems to be the only somewhat decent Dreis loadout for arty, but I don’t really like Arty, and the Fail Safe augment is bad, unless you like to call in artillery strikes on your own position.
  • D52 for Red eye is excellent, and comes with both the Caulden and the Kurki, but he’d be less flexible than Kira. Pure rifle combat wise though, he’s unbeatable, at least compared to the Arty and Kira loadouts.
  • Kira has both D43 and D82. I’m leaning towards her with the D43, since Quick Draw seems better than Drilled with her ability and that with proper aiming a Dreiss mag goes a long way. Also, she can get behind cover to reload easily. D43 does have the silly Cricket Bat though. She’s a faster merc overall and probably less boring on the longer term.

Any thoughts?

imo D43 is fun and more comp viable but D82 is fun as well

(Laionidas) #3

Hmmm,… but you agree with Kira over Arty and Red Eye?

Also, how well does quick draw work with the laser designator?

Arty - D83
Redeye - D75
Kira - D82

Yep, you’re right about Red Eye. I mixed up D75 and D52. D75 is the one with the Caulden and the Kukri in any case.

Why D83 on Arty instead of D72? I think all of Arty’s Dreiss loadouts are mehhh,… but that taken into consideration, “Extra Supplies” seems to make D72 a so much better card.

Regarding Kira, why D82 and not D43?

extra supplies and extra ammo don’t really have a better overall effect considering how they both behave. Since one more ammo pack allows you more breathing space in conservation and spam, I prefer that over extra supplies since I don’t feel the need to give ammo to everyone everywhere because it replenishes all ammo in one pack. But the same can not be said about the medics like Sawbonez, because he has only 3 packs and replenishes health fast enough I would choose extra supplies over potent packs. So extra ammo is better for fire supports with ammo packs, extra supplies are for mercs who can’t spam as much and need the lower cool down (Sawbonez, Kira, Stoker, Aura, etc…)

I believe fail safe and quick draw are utterly useless. I’d much rather have chopper and unshakeable.

For Kira, again, I believe quick draw to be useless. Those two cards have the same two augments with D82 having drilled and D43 having quick draw. I’d much rather have drilled.

I agree 100% about Fail Safe. I never liked augments that compensate for your own failures, because they require you to fail first. Playing with that mentality gets you nowhere. You need augments that buff your peaks, not your lows.

About Kira, the D82 has the Selbstadt instead of the M9. I think the Selbstadt has the worst sights of all semi-auto pistols, and the sound supression throws me off. Then again, it does have the Stiletto instead of the Cricket Bat, which allows for Kira’s special ability:

I do a lot of reload canceling so Quick Draw works out well for me.

(Reddeadcap) #10

Theres 2 Arty Loadouts that are great imho, the only question I have is why they both have Failsafe…

(Laionidas) #11

You mean D72, and D43?

Do you think they’re better than D83?

(Sir_Slam) #12

Im partial to drilled. I cant tell you how many side arm duels ive won because of it.

#13

The reason I hate D43 (why do you think RNG gave it me three times) is because of the cricket bat.
Yeah, it’s fun here and there but you don’t have the maximum speed when equiped.
Kira’s laser pointer as well as her main gun share the same walking speed when out and the ammo station is pretty self explaining.
You really don’t want to lose speed as a light merc.
Especially if it was nerfed by 2%. :’(

(Laionidas) #14

Yeah, I’m currently leaning towards the D82 myself as well. I hate the Selbstadt .40 (feels weak, and god awefull sights) as a secondary, but I do hate the Cricket Bat more, and I find myself melee running a lot, so I agree 100% with the speed argument. I’ve also concluded that Drilled beats Quick Draw on Kira, as her laser isn’t fire and forget anyway, as opposed to say Skyhammer’s airstrike.

Following that logic, would you also say that D72 is the best Dreiss loadout on Arty?

Well, I’m not playing Arty myself but looking at his Dreiss loadout cards I personally wouldn’t choose the D43.
There is no reason you should find yourself in a situation of being hit by your own strike.
Spares is probably even more useless than Fail Safe and finally Unshakeable which is rather decent.

My choice between the two other kinda depend if holding an ammo pack grants 100% speed (I wonder if anybody knows that).
While yeah, the D83 has the cricket bat its augment selection is fairly decent.
Actually, Chopper with cricket bat looks like lots of fun.
D72 has Fail Safe as well. But atleast it has Quick Draw and Extra Supplies.
Caulden isn’t the best option for a secondary but that’s not the end of the world I guess.

(Laionidas) #16

Yeah, I’m hearing that a lot, and yet it’s by far my favourite. Dunno why.

I mean…it’s by no means a bad secondary (I have it on my Kira).
You can definitely perform well nevertheless.
It’s just that other pistols are superior. Looking at you, M9.
