Best crosshair and color?

(KoelKastVarken) #1

What crosshair do you use and why? Also what color? Why?

(Madonna_) #2

I use dot xhair with the biggest size available and pink color, as pink/purple isnt used in the maps helps me keeping track of my xhair

(BlackboltLW) #3

I use either medium dot or small full crosshair, with bright green

(Mr-Penguin) #4

Medium dot, bright pink/purple. Works quite well.

(Your worst knifemare.) #5

Basic crosshair but purple

I cant remember the game title for the heck of me but somewhere it was possible to turn crosshair into dynamic colour which changed depending on background you were aiming at currently.

How useful and cool it’d be to be able to make crosshair be opposite (negative) colour of the background? I’d choose that in DB in a heartbeat.

Mumble. White crosshair, solid black outline, now I can actually see it as opposed to DB’s ones which have a faint outline that makes it easy to lose.

I use a custom crosshair, using this program: customdesktoplogo.wikidot.com/download

(CryonicArrow) #9

Right now I use a custom Yellow mumble crosshair. Because I find it’s easy to keep track of my crosshair when I color it yellow.

I use a black and white round dot crosshair. This is visible against all colors, including lights, darks, and yellow (which may not be visible with a yellow crosshair).

Having a yellow crosshair could be detrimental, especially after the MOFO update, as some new yellow decontamination areas have been added.

What crosshair do you use and why?
Just a large dot. The default crosshair got in my way sometimes, especially in long range fights. I don’t want to have all those lines on top of my enemy and make them harder to see. I just need to know where the center of my screen is. Also I don’t think that the expanding crosshair is accurately showing the bullet spread. I think that the weapons are more accurate than it makes them look so that’s another reason for using the center dot only.

Also what color? Why?
Green because the enemies are orange-ish and green stands out a lot. Color doesn’t matter a lot though, since the dot’s circumference is black which means that it will never blend with any other color unless your dot is black too. So, basically, use whatever color you want as long as it’s not black.

Oh and since some people mentioned Mumble, I just want to let you know that if you want a crosshair overlay, you don’t have to download an entire voice communication program just to use its overlay addon. You can download Custom Desktop Logo which is a very small and free program that allows you to display any picture you want on your screen(so you can obviously use it for a custom crosshair). It’s very simple to use and will work with every game as long as you don’t play it in fullscreen.

Here’s a link to it:

It’s very good for Dirty Bomb, as the native setting looks like fullscreen, but still works with CDL.

For the crosshair type, I prefer the dot and cycle between medium and large. While in practice its good to know the bloom of the weapon with the Full Crosshair, at distances it can obscure targets more often than not, Snipers or when Defending and keeping an eye out for incoming infantry.

Crosshair color is preference. But the golden rule is this; chose a color you are responsive to or a color that makes target tracking easy for you. I use Green because full-green (255) sticks out against a majority of backsets and loadout card camos.

Bright green or heavy purple stands out on most maps, and I use the smallest cross hair to make it clear the center of focus for my screen.
