Behold the SPASTIC mirror

(Danyboy) #1

If anyone can figure out why on earth this camera is rotated 180 degrees I will be so happy.

The camera is lying on the portal brush with an angle of -1 - ive also tried -1 180 but no difference.

I’ve rotated the camera entity but as i knew - nothing happened

Ok problem solved

Removing the target / targetname link fixed the problem - odd but im happy

This will eventually and hopefullt be a map for True Combat: Elite

gotta love it when no one needs to reply!

I had fixed a problem like this before by deleting the camera and portal and then recreating them. Either way…glad to hear.

I thought you didn’t need a camera to make a mirror.

Yeah - i was hoping for an easier solution - this seems to be a more complex way but i think this:

and

both use the same technique

(Oxygen - o2) #6

how do you do that?

(EB) #7

Oxygen,

Shader Settings from Q3map2 manual(link below)
*portal

Specifies that this texture is the surface for a portal or mirror. In the game map, a portal entity must be placed directly in front of the texture (within 64 game units). All this does is set “sort portal”, so it isn’t needed if you specify that explicitly.

Make a shader and apply it to the area needed, place a misc_portal_surface within the 64 unit limit. It is easier than you may think. You should take a look at the whole shader content list. HERE

O-yeah, no camera is needed, but you never know what the person is truly trying to acheive. Play around with it.

thanks EB

yeh u can have some fun with these mirror shaders

(EB) #10

Red*Uk, that pic is interesting, what map is it from? I was thinkin of making a map like Nintendo-esque

(Red*Uk) #11

Its a double fort map (ctf) i made, kinda got the idea from worms forts, beside the pastel like textures and _celshading i built the forts from patchs (about 95% of them anyway) theres about 10 brushes in all ,so the fps are making sure it will never leave my pc :frowning:
