I was reffering to the patch that is on the PC now

Since they have had a chance to see the updates on the PC and to see if they can be further improved I expect when the SAME updates come to the consoles [yes they are the same, they are not different updates because its a console… but the same updates, this isnt graphics or perfromance we are talking about, but game balancing] Along with the DLC they will be further tweaked slightly along with the PC.

And if the PC had the DLC when it was ready it could see any imbalances with the new maps/attatchments sooner than when it comes out on the consoles so could have an idea and get to work on the update quicker than usual.

When you say the PC is a different beast it means nothing to this… if it was so different in terms of balancing then the pc and console would need complete different patches and ‘weapon’ settings… But no they are both the same… like all games.
Most games actually use the PC first for patches before patching the console so they can make any further changes needed…
Game balancing is not the same across all platforms for all games. Just to give you an example I recently played another class based shooter. In that game there is a sniper class. Obviously it is much easier to snipe on PC than it is with a 360 controller. For the sake of balance on PC they reduced the sniper’s clip size in order to make up for their higher capacity to aim. There are game balance issues for which it might be necessary to tweak differently based on platform. A possible example might be making the grenade’s hit box for grenade shooting smaller on PC due to their greater capacity to aim.

patience is the key indeed if it isnt this week its next week.

i really dont need a spiel, oh everyone will be gone by then. the hardcores are all we got left, they arnt going anywhere.

(NigelDocker) #23

Obvcourse some games have minor differences, but generally both platforms get the same patch, just slight differences after experimenting.
The devs will get an idea of whats unbalanced if it was to be released when it was ready on the pc and get to work, like most other cross plat devs.

Im not talking the patch and dlc we are getting now to be any different, as its already in for confirmation, but im talking for the NEXT patch, if it was already out on the PC the devs could already work and tweaking for the next patch and get it out sooner, as it is its not on either platfroms so work cant start till later, and we will get the next patch later than otherwise.

Thx and yeah I cant wait either

But still I think it would be best to wait until the stuff that 90 % in here complains about is fixed

Then give the DLC to get people back, and with the fixes theyll hopefully stay

If they attempted this it wouldn’t be this year
Had a chance to balance out the issues? Like how the PS3 beta balanced out the issues before launch that everyone is now complaining about? The PC community can really only balance out PC issues. PC and console are 2 separate beasts.

As for getting updates first. Updates as in just game tweaks and no actual content, like maps, attachments, abilities, raised lvl cap, new abilities, etc? Oh yeah, they’re totally the same. I can see how the PC crowd getting early access to some game tweaks without uproar from the console crowd and getting early access to actual content are one in the same…

I have played on both platforms, and from my experience, the console community is much materialistic than PC. A good number of console players would much rather content over tweaks. Remember, it’s console - where a good number of comments like “Only 8 maps!? FAIL!” are coming from and where new releases are frequently treated like flavors of the month rather than games that live on for years. Hell, there’s probably a good number of players that don’t even know a patch was released for PC or that it will be included in the DLC.

And for the record, there are console players upset that PC got a patch and they didn’t.
PC players also mod and make their own maps amd games etc. Which allows the game to keep growing and adds replay value. People that play consoles don’t have that luxury… wish we did.

(NigelDocker) #27

It wouldnt be ever, lol

(its al bout security) #28

its the 12th get your platform fired up and await the agents of change

(Patriotqube) #29

btw for the first time i looked at my profile here on site and discovered the achievments stuff, and noticed an award for having a thread which has been looked by ppl 500 times, this is now on 460 so this post here is really to be considered a bit spammy

hope you can forgive

Are you spreading rumors again?

(Darksider) #32

Nigel just did not know when to shut-up glad to see he got banned, although only temporary…

+1

About the topic I prefer a free bug dlc and wait 1 more month if needed.

(morguen87) #34

I think one reason the DLC hasn’t been released on PC (if it’s actually done and we really just are waiting on certification), is because of the 2 week free window. If PC get’s it before consoles it also means that their 2 weeks will be up before consoles’. It would look pretty bad at that point, making PC users buy it while consoles are still getting it for free.
They probably want to release it at the same time across all platforms so they can start charging everyone at the same time.

Good point.

I thought it seemed peaceful around here.

Hi Nigel.

(nick1021) #37

Well you always got me here. And I don’t know about Nigel, but I can avoid bans.

(riptide) #38

I didnt read anything but the title but before you said anything you should have realized people have been waiting patiently for 2 + years to play this game. We get to play it and it completely goes against what it stood for. Then they say they have free dlc for us a week after a horrible launch. Say it’s coming in June then June almost comes to an end and they say July but only after they announce that some people will have to pay for it.

Sorry but we’ve been patient enough.

Great concept but in the end… sh!t game and waste of money. I continue to check on patch information and stuff because I think the concept and some of the foundation is there but nothing more. I hope they get it right… not so I can have fun playing but so I know they’ll make a Brink 2 and won’t lose 90% of their player base in the first month (FACT).

Dead game is dead and couldn’t be enjoyed if I tried and believe me 250 hours in the first 6 weeks is trying plenty.

(BROTOX) #39

Getting really tired of peoples misinformed preconceived notions about Brink. I followed this game since it was announced, did my research and took what the devs said about the game at face value without falling for the hype. For the most part, I knew what I was getting into with Brink which is why I was left with little room for disappointment. That is not to say the game is perfect or anything but really… what shooter is perfect at launch now a days anyway?

hear, hear
