"Be more objective 2 star": I suck?

(Dreepa) #1

Alright, so I m at that challenge and stuck… and I m not the only one… so me and my friends were thinking: its probably meant to be played together in MP - wrong!

Well, since those challenge things have a kinda tutorial character: “Escort vehicle” - easy peasy, “Jump around and hit lights” - easy peasy, “Defend the spot” - easy peasy… I am really thinking what made Splash Damage make this challenge so different… it clearly comes along with the same tutorial feeling meaning: “Learn how to properly manage the objctives for each class”.

So here is what Im doing:

I insta blow the door, switch class, run up the stairs, shoot the bots in the back, set up a turret at the repair-objective, rep the thing (maybe die 2,3 times) and just spam-rep it until its finished… I have about 7 minutes left to do the hack obj. and it wont work out ffs.

My bots seem to not cover me at all… but the worst thing is: Enemy base entrance is directly in line of sight with the hack obj…

So either I shoot the constant flow of bots, or I hack (getting shot in the back).

Spam-hacking wont work, cause they remove the hackbox rather fast… What was SD thinking? Or is it an oversight in balancing? It honestly feels like 1vs5… I am not even dying often when I focus on fighting. No, the bots fall like flies, but I run out of ammo quick, and as soon as I am back from refilling at the com, the bots are back again…

sigh

Yes you suck.

The lower lv you are the easier it is I believe I completed it with a lv 2 or 3 character and it was no problem

(kilL_888) #4

dont worry. it is possible to do the 2 star challenges.

i had my problems, too, doing that challenge. the bots dont help at all. you always have the impression the enemy ai is superior while your teammate ai is acting like its blind or has no clue at all whats going on.

you need some luck and just a little skill to beat the challenge. you can also run around with the hacking device and if a bot tries to remove it, switch to your gun and mow them down. and of youre lucky your fellow bot mats even assist you doing this.

want to add that i dont like the challenges at all. they are so half assed. they are tutorials with a fancy name actually. waste of time for me.

If interested in completing it on level 20 character, check out this video…

Or, if you’re a PC purist, give this one a look.

Or just make a level 1 character and not worry about it.

General Techniq already posted his very nice Tutorial vid. and the link to mine:)

Heres the thread of mine for PC with different bodytypes:

It’s just that allied bots are that awful

That hacking objective is probably the hardest part, especially with a high level character.

For the hack follow the left wall from spawn, towards the first bomb objective. Instead of going directly to the hack site, continue down the left wall to the very end of the room and use the boxes as cover, your team mates will move up eventually and you’ll have chance to hack once you’ve taken 1/2 - 3/4 of the defenders out

Low lvl characters = easy. Simple as that.

I am not a talented Brink player and I got all stars first go. Luck can play a big role, but odds are with a low lvl character you WILL finish them quickly.

(Smoochy) #11

i find it gets no tougher later on. i can still beat it in less than 4 mins even on 3 star with a level 15 char.

use alternate routes. thats the best thing i can suggest. also, to hack, you can be stood around a corner.

use the scaffold near the start point and you can get up high without any enemies pretty easily.

Move up slowly. You leave the friendly bots behind if you move too quickly and if you’re not close to them they sit down and have a tea party with each other.
If you move up slowly they’ll begin following / escorting you and actually help.

Still a rough challenge, but that’s why they call it a challenge

nah, run to 1st objective and plant ASAP. rinse and repeat. i just ignore the bots. if im down they find me anyway.

Gotta agree with you there, Smoochy, for ‘Be More Objective’. I found running STRAIGHT for the objectives got things done in no time and got the jump on the opposition.

I get that keeping the bots up with you is the most logical idea, but in the 3 star challenge it feels like you have a target above your head because they always seem to shoot you first before any of my team bots.

I run for the first objective because you can plant before the opposition arrive en masse. The rest of the objectives I take the long routes to get there and allow the bots to get into their own scuffle first. Too often I’ve made it to the engineering objective only to be killed and then discovered 3 bots camping it while my teammates are playing dress-up back at the first objective and forgot that they should be covering me.

Sometimes I find hanging around the bots gets them to notice you and they’ll say things like “I’ll escort you”. Once you’ve got them doing that things get easier.

Whatever tricks work for your playstyle though.

(FireWorks) #16

Shoot them in the face and rush it! Yes, im serious!

(MrFoxer) #17

eh, I beat 3 star on lvl 18, first try, in four minutes.
