OK it’s finally here, the final release of Wolken 4:

Battle of Wolken4: Wolkenkanone

Background

To the horror of the Allied forces the Axis have managed to construct a monster sized cannon in the same vain as the Dora railgun back on Earth, only difference is that this new weapon named wolkenkanone runs on tank style treds rather than rail track. A test fire of this weapon is due later tonight if succesfull it wont be long till the tred system is operational and the weapon deployed on the battlefield. Allies must knock out this weapon before the test fire to avoid certain doom.

Objectives

  1. Disable the Turmfaust to allow safe passage for the tanks.
  2. Blow open the entrance to the axis garrison with the tanks available.
  3. Deliver the spare parts to the plane.
  4. Repair the damaged plane using the spare parts.
  5. Use the plane to blast a way into the construction site.
  6. Dynamite the gun controls on the Wolkenkanone in order to disable the weapon.

Allies first spawn they can also spawn else where at first just beyond the broken arch.

The first objective, the Turmfaust, Allies can plant either within the Turmfaust or on the top section.

This shows how destructive the Turmfaust can be against tanks, luckily allies have a second tank just around the corner waiting for the all clear.

When clear the tank will make it’s way to here and blow open the entrance, due to the obstacles it can not go further.

Here is what behind the main entrance and the axis first spawn which becomes allies second spawn is just to left in that door at top of stairs.

This is where the command post of either team is if axis build it they gain a second spawn point for defense, allies do not get the same benefit.

The final objective is the Wolkekanone controls just under the main cannon.

Additional Information

The map if intended for pub play with teams 6 on 6 or more and is the final release so no more changes I would have liked to have maybe another beta release but not much time for ET nowadays.
The map is also one of my earlier attempts at mapping, its just taken ages to get it released, so it may not be friendly to older machines.

How many players would you say this map is best suited for?

We have had some good 8 vs 8 test games on it, I guess if you have too much though the first objective would become rather hard given the limited ways to it, also people always tend to plant dyno up top when you can plant it safely inside so not sure about an ideal number of players. Also I not a fan of these 32-64 man servers so I never tested any of my maps to see if they suit that kind of play. Wolken2_final though at a guess would be better map for such servers.

Almost right, well Wolken is another planet but we not meant to know that just yet in terms of background story and there loads of these islands floating about in clouds and they can have different climates to the next, it does look rather odd having thought about it and in future incarnations of wolken maps I will most likely make climate changes between islands more gradual rather than what they are now to give it a more ‘realistic’ feeling.
