OK it’s finally here, the real proper public release of Wolken1:

Battle of Wolken1: First Encounter

Background

After a month of exploring the land of Wolken, Allied forces have uncovered an Axis base in Southern regions. Located within this base is a prototype of a new weapon named Turmfaust, first seen in development back on Earth before the ‘incident’, which is to be test fired some time today. Allies are planning to sabotage this test fire and try halt the deployment of this new weapon on the battlefield.

Objectives

  1. Defend the forward spawn from invading Allied forces.
  2. Prevent the Allies from destroying the main entrance.
  3. Defend the side entrance from Allied engineers.
  4. Stop Allied engineers from building the command post.
  5. Defend the Turmfaust prototype cannon from Allied sabotage.

Additional Information

The map has been optimised for 3 on 3 play and is only at beta1 stage so if you spot anything wrong please contact myself so I may rectify and problems that occur.

Indeed quite interesting map. It’s very fun to play!
Would be nice to see this map as a fully and officially accepted as competition map :slight_smile:

Cheers for comments, due to me not fully understanding the competition I wasn’t aware this particular version of map was going to be released to the public, I have a separate version that doesn’t include the sponsor’s logos on the map, also this version released was only alpha1, I have now made many changes with the map that will be tested soon, depending on the success of the tests they may be a public beta to follow.

Cheers, glad you approve, also something I failed to mention is that the map is to be included in the clanbase 3 on 3 opencup which I am more than happy about :smiley:

very nice map!

just some small suggestions:

  • your map needs more caulking, for example these roofs and more

  • strange vis compilation -> terrible fps in some parts, see this:

  • there are also some little texture leaks:

Ah cheers thanks for them, yeah about the roofs i forgot to re-caulk them after texturing them for the purpose of the command map, thanks for reminding me. The main entrance I’ve always struggled to sort that out but I will keep trying, vis blocking and hint placement not my strongest area, the one near side entrance shouldn’t be that hard to solve looking at it. I always seem to struggle with outdoor areas. :smiley:

Finally got a chance to take a look at this one tonight. I like the layout and to me the framerate is really good. Usually not less than 125 and easily as high as 300-400 indoors.
