Features

  • New Constructions and Upgrades with much spiffier effects than in beta1!
  • Randomly arranged trenches, ruins, and underground to keep it fresh.
  • Rocket Guns now seek out enemy targets.
  • Different construction combinations will grant bonuses to others.

Overview
Its a race, to build your base! Steal Construction Materials from your enemy’s base and secure them at the various ‘Capture Pads’ located in your team’s base. Once secured, Construction Materials can be used by engineers to build up different parts of your base, from defensive walls to lookout towers. Different capture pads correspond to different base Constructions, so be sure to think about where you secure your Construction Materials. Capture Pads can be used multiple times to upgrade constructions. Also, constructions can be ‘synergized’ by completing combinations of other constructions. The first team to complete all 18 constructions / upgrades or have the most completed when the timer runs out wins!

Awesome! Our clan loved the first beta despite some flaws, and this one looks like it’s gonna be great! What we liked especially was the teamplay which was necessary for victory. I hope you added more CTF_bluespawns and CTF_redspawns though. :slight_smile:

Missing texture?

That was during warmup, I’m not sure it actually looked like that after it started.

Heh, yeah the missing textures… thats what I get for mapping and playing on the same install of ET. Definatley on my list of things to fix for the final.

sum up from the feedback from M8D servers so far:

We do all miss the good fights that took place in the old tunnels around the base.

perhaps the baserace b1 version with the same simple bases and random ruins in no mans land would be 1337 - but please bring us back the old tunnels underneath the bases…

I’m in total ave over this map, such a unique idea! The random structures, the building of the bases etc, damn. Really good work CptnTriscuit!

The structures are a bit bland though, and the lightning is a bit washed out. There’s also a bit of texture aligning needed, especially the grass. But, fully understandable, I guess getting everything to work properly must have been a lot of work and that’s where you have been putting the focus. Iif you fine tune the map you will definitely have a winner.

Yeah the map does not look very pretty, one of the issues I will try and fix for the final…or beta3 however it works out.

I cant have any intense global light that results in ‘long’ shadows - the static lighting and the dynamic structures just dont mix…(it would work nice on the doom3 engine though huh?) But I will add in more small lights, cause your right its very bland especially with the fog.

And thanks to Sock’s keen tutorial (ty Sock) I finally understand dotProduct terrain - so everything will be all blended and sexy.

haha love this ;D I thought the first version was good but this is even better I love the underground tunnels aswell I basically got 80% of the parts without being shot at once because of them

Probably too complicated layout, seems to be a maze more than something usefull.

Would make it simpler if I where you.
