Banlieue 13 (District 13) - "brink" like movie

morning.

yesterday i saw a fantastic movie on german tv. its called banlieue 13. written by luc besson (you might know him).

its about a crime district in france that is isolated by a wall. find out more about the story by googling it. :wink:

basicly this movie is about parkour action and a few other things that reminded me to brink, so i decided i post it here. the setting pretty much reminded me to brink, too. its not on an island but the enviroment was also shabby and broken. almost like container city.

maybe its just me, but at the very beginning of the movie there was a security guy from the main actor which looked exactly like one of the character designs in brink. you know, the guy with the big nose. hard to describe, i have yet to find a picture.

anyways. i found that movie very interesting and exciting. and if your a brink fan already i prefer you watch this movie. the stunts are just amazing (no cables, no computer tricks) and might give you a glimpse of what the “trick” system in brink will look like.

im also curious if the devs actually got some inspiration from this movie. this nose guy from the beginning wont get out of my head. he looks soooo familiar. ask google for some pictures, you might see some parallels to the brink artwork.

Luc Besson is French, and our Art Director, Olivier is also French.

Yeah saw the movie too and i thought: Thats like Brink

Right, the setting isnt a real island, but its a closed district in Paris, u cant enter it or leave it, so its like an island. Its surrounded by a huge Wall.
I think, Brink is the game copy of the movie Banlieue 13 :wink:

Definitely an influence. David Belle’s style of Parkour is very much about efficiency over flair. That’s our approach on Brink’s movement.

thanks for the replies. first i thougt im crazy thinking that this movie had anything to do with brink even so there are similarities. glad to hear that it actually had some influence on you guys.

i never heard of the movie before but the picture in my tv guide looked almost like some concept art from brink, so i decided to watch it. its actually pretty cool, even if you have no connection to brink whatsoever. and i found out theres also a sequel. need to watch this, too. :smiley:

Not just the parkour, the isolated poor vs the rich authorities is another matching theme.

there’s a sequel out called Banlieue 13 - Ultimatum, the first one is better though
