balancing mines
Thats exactly what I mean. You have to know what you are doing when you are arming a mine. So you could gain a more powerful mine at cost of vulnerability while arming.
So it’s up to the player whether he arms his mine or throws a self-arming one.
Could be reflected as the mines with lazer for enemy detection that would require an arming process. But leave the proximity mines to self-arming pretty please !

(scre4m.) #62

laser for enemy detection?
You mean like those laser mines in ETQW? those don’t seem fitting for DB as maps lack doorways where those could really help a lot.

I actually meant we could have 2 different proximity mines. One self-arming and one that needs to be armed.
The difference between those 2 types should be the amount of damage they make, their trigger time and maybe their visuability.

This is interesting, visibility reduced the longer the arming process takes … I like ! Your point is right and we agree that the self-arming mine should remain the default mine. I’m also really impatient to see the satchel charge back in the game !

A lot of things can be changed on the mine itself like damage, arming/detonate time, range, visual indication and sound effects.
I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to use different arming methods to “balance” the characteristics of mines, because it feels more like a workaround.

I want to be able to disarm when you just stop on it or wait an engie to diffuse as the good old days !
now it’s just more casual gameplay ! All the deep gameplay is gone … You can’t disguise, you can’t diffuse a mine when armed it just goes boom, you can’t move when planting or diffusing, etc … and a major part of the fun is gone with it ! meta game dude ! right now it really look like gameplay for casual gamers or console gaming … made for PC really ? It’s a big question !

I understand as a F2P you need to be able to present a game for everyone, but I really think you need a look at the Wolf:ET or ETQW deep gameplay and how it works, cause there is some really good mechanics for me really important, I dont want a wolf ET or ETQW remake but please keep what’s make your games fun ! And keep the deep gameplay !! Press “E” is not the good way ! make me feel like Brink press “F” … feel consolish …

for me ETQW did it best on mines ! trip mines and proximity mines was so much fun !

“And while desarming the mine he stepped on, the engi got shot, because mines are always put in places with intense action going on, and so the engi went kaboom. The legend tells that it remained enough of the engi’s body for him to picture a facepalm in his grave.”

The morality of this story ? You will almost never have time to arm or to disarm a mine in action, and as teams a smaller than in the previous games, this mechanic cannot be used as is in DB.

My opinion only ofc … I have already a lot of difficulties to remain alive in the game by having my best gun ready to fire at any time, I wonder how I could even dream of living more than 5 seconds in the midst of an objective with a construction tool

easy ! Press “E” ! :penguin:

I understand what you mean but I really miss the deep gameplay of previous games …

(RasteRayzeR) #68

I know … I miss it too, it’s too obvious currently in the game. But when you ask the devs about new mechanics they say they want to keep it simple not to confuse the average player. I remember asking to have more knife combos or using also the wheel click to get a third attack style … won’t happen for all I know.

+1

Been asking about this for a while.
