Just played 5-6 rounds of pub play…and unfortunately, every one of them was a full hold, hopelessly unbalanced game. I tried switching teams, because being on defense was so boring b/c there were no real pushes. I’m frustrated, and missing ET and ETQW.

Balance does suck in Brink. Around 40-60% time i played, one team was raping other one. It would be nice to have some auto team balance.

I don’t know what you’re on about. Teres nothing wrong with team balance really and I’ve played a lot of rounds. Play more, get to rank 4/5.
Most maps can be quite easy to defend however.

Yeah - I have two 5th level chars… I’ve played quite a bit…and there is a problem with lots of games being really one-sided IMO.

You guys would be complaining a whole lot more if the maps were attacker biased.

but then we would all be playing stopwatch which fixes the “balance” issue :slight_smile:

Yeah, the team balance on maps is absolutely bat **** ridiculous in Brink.

I’m sure if they ever release the PC stats, it’ll demonstrate this fact even moreso because PC servers, albeit mostly ghost towns, have fewer servers just running bots.

The balance of every Brink map = the balance of the absolute worst of TF2. And then Container City is just in its entirely own “What idiot with an AA degree from Devry in game design made this map!?” tier.

I have experimented to even out unbalanced games.
If you use a level 20 character with advanced game type, the AI lifts its game…

Enemy AI will constantly push for objectives.
The lights rush into packs of your players and deliberatly stand between you and friendly players, making you careful on the trigger to prevent TK’s, while any friendly bots will not and precede to kill your own team.

I find it evens out those chokepoint battles, where currently with FF off, people will spray the area with fire, kill enemies and friendlies are unnaffected.

imo, the most unbalancing part of Brink is FF-OFF by default.:rolleyes:

I agree that overall ETQW was much better. I never played a game on which I’ve had so much fun for over 1 full year. BC2 comes either equal or a little after. I’m wondering if it’s ever gonna be alive “Brink” until BF3 is out. By then a big part of Brink player will prolly leave for BF3 I bet. Knowing Splash with ETQW it’s gonna be the last DLC and they won’t be making another patch after and will let the game die again.

I fear this. I really do.

I hope not but the track record of previous Splash Damage games / publishers are not very convincing.

I have said this in other threads on here and Steam that if they go the route of Killing Floor, a very succesful niche franchise, which releases new outfits, player maps, weapons, achievements, for very little cash or FREE on a REGULAR basis, has Steam sales in ALL regions and has a larger and loyal fan base than Brink has. Not bad for a 3/4 year old game and a mod at that.

It can be done. This game can live for years! Show the love Bethseda/Splash Damage!

Mind you, Killing Floor team - Tripwire Interactive - do have a very good PR system and regular posts on fan forums.

Definitly there is a huge problem with balance … so many people are leaving the game …

tha maps design is responsible for the half of the problem I think, huge problem with the number of spawn exit for the attackers on lot of maps …

and finally 50€ for 8 maps with about 3 or 4 maps really playable, who stucks most of the time at the first obj.

my description of my last game in pub :

make some game of 6 min for each map in about 30 min you make all the maps in objective mode = rage quit = empty server

We try to set a public in stopwatch, and usually it finish by 20 min of spawnkill = rage quit = empty server

n some server we saw some bots to fill the lack of real players (it’s a fact) and in this case sometimes due to rage quit for the resons below you stay alon in your team full of bots and they are really stupids …

So hope you gonna find a way but for me in some case some maps need some real fix !
and a huge balancing have to be done, or brink is over.

the only way to have a good game is to set the server to max 6 players with ESL rules and hope all peoples respect the “no de-hack”

So ? what next ?
some good news or the end of BRINK ? cause in pub it really sucks …
