bad looking shadows

(burzum) #1

I want my light looking like this. Its the same what i try, some brushes forming a grid or cage with a light behind casting well looking shadows.

And this is my testmap with my very bad looking result :frowning:
Also the wall is to dark compared with the floor and the ceiling.

lightmapscale 0.5
samples 3
samplesize 4

Whats wrong ? Ive played around with nearly all settings and got only shitty shadows all the time :frowning:

Or heres another example how it should look :

Hi!
Did you do light compile with bounce 1 (or higher) ?
// Loffy

Yeap, tried different values - nearly no difference :frowning:
It is possible to get this map http://www.shaderlab.com/q3map2/screenshots/penumbra_02.jpg here as an example map file ?

I haven’t released a version of Q3Map2 with the penumbra code yet.

Been moving house, so little time to work on it lately. Hopefully this week if all goes well.

Ok, but is it not possible to get a good looking shadow without of it ?
Like in the examples ive showed up.

Try adding the following to the -light commandline:

-samples 2

  • OR -

-super 2

Exactly like that, with the - before super or samples.
