Why are people re-formatting there drives when they get the blaster virus?
It has a trojan affect which can b cancelled by CTRL + ALT + DELETE
The proper fix is on the symantac website under Norton Anti Virus product and click on Security Response
The fix takes about 7minutes of your time and causes zero hassle.
You are a fool :bash:
Now you cant load??? the map in radient / in game what , you have to give more info…
Death…
the virus is causing some residual problems on some computers…maybe unplanned incompatibilities or maybe something piggybacked in…but, in either case…the best way to deal with a trojan or worm is to format and restore from backups that are clean
your system has been comprimised and there may be a little present waiting on your drive waiting for the right moment to be activated
…
yeah
the virus is totally wiped including all the work which is done if you the symantac fixblast.exe tool found on the website.
The only thing you have to do manually is delete the program from the system registry first.
either way
the map is in d:\pf\wolf et\etmain\maps
It was in the exact same place before backing up and reformatting.
But now when i load it it just sez ready, and stays there, not even showing a load time.
I do the reformat cuz i’m the old msdos style junkie.
Don’t blame me, the virus i had killed some important dll’s so i couldnt even see windows loading :banghead:

I agree with Death. This is probably the 6th person I’ve heard of who formatted to get rid of a security hole in XP. Guess what, the hole will still be there when you reinstall it! D’oh
One guy I know actually took his PC apart then drove to a repair store and payed them by the hour to fix it
