Axis-only command post prefab + script wanted

(G0-Gerbil) #1

Being a total n00b and in a rush (I want me map out tonight) can someone point me in the right direction - followed the LDR and mine didn’t work and can’t spend much more time on it, so if someone has already done this and feels like sharing the fruits of their labour, let me know.
All the prefabs on here are nuetral composts, which ain’t wot I b arfter

Hey Gerbil!

I don’t know if you have checked this site: TramDesign they have excellent Samplemaps to get a clue what you need. Hope this helps you.

I have an allied one…I can convert it to an axis one ‘quickly’ /me thinks… if you still need one that is…

Here’s a link to an axis cp prefab with the required script.

There are 4 Command Posts types with much better simplier scripts in the new LDR 1.1. Did not have time to finish all the descriptions but the script is a lot better.

Thanks sock (PS were you tramdesign before, as the ihgher link to your new LDR implies?), but I can’t see what you mention - it’s just got an updated version of what’s in the ‘normal’ LDR, but I don’t see any scripts? Anyway, it’s not really the scripts that are the problem, it’s setting the entities up.
Have you thought about creating prefabs to go with the LDR?

Just the a direct link to the allied com post in sock’s document:
Sample Map 03a - Allied Command Post

(G0-Gerbil) #8

Where was that link, must have missed it. Now I feel silly

(nUllSkillZ) #9

It’s one page of the link sock just has told:
http://www.planetquake.com/simland/ldr1_1/
Theres a link site at the left side.
And I think you have not scrolled down.
Underneath the header “SAMPLE MAPS” there are several new pages not mentioned in the original documentation.

LOL yes tis true, I R blind - thanks

One more question regarding the prefab compost map though - it shows up as a standard buildable icon, not a compost buildable icon.
Is there a simple way of changing this or will I have to have 2 TOI’s, one set up with the built icon, and another with the ‘to be built’ icon for axis?

(G0-Gerbil) #11

Ah ignore me, I was thinking of radar where the compost is a special case - I’ll leave it as-is since that’s how it is on the officials.

[EDIT] Har even in radar I’m wrong - not having the cleverest couple of days me!

(Mean Mr. Mustard) #12

Check the ‘is_commanpost’ key in the TOI

(G0-Gerbil) #13

That simply gives the normal crates.
I’m not sure why I thought that composts waiting to be built had a little compost icon - shows how much attention I pay to the command map!

(Siemnov) #14

Well, when the commpost isn’t built yet, it should give the crates right? Try constructing it and see what it looks like then.
Oh and don’t forget to add sound. Use the editspeakermode in ET. Check sock’s mapping reference.

The LDR 1.0 is mirrored all over the place and I really wanted one source for everyone to check. Plus it means if I update one version everyone can read the new changes much quicker. The plan is to finish off the sample section so its complete with good descriptions and sample files/scripts.

As new ideas of common structures appear on this forum I will add them to the samples section of the LDR1.1 I did include some tutorials but the list on the left just was too long and people were beginning to miss things. I have so much more to do with the samples and hopefully over time it will be more complete.

TramDesign did have a copy of the original LDR 1.0 so I sent them a link to the new one for there information. Hopefully people will link to the new one and let me know of new stuff they want added.

Keep it up sock, I’d volunteer help but I know that having multiple people working on a doc can lead to it’s own problems - that and I HATE doing documentation
Anyway, keep up the good work - I’d probably remove the sample maps you haven’t actually got there yet, because it only builds false hopes

Another thing, maybe you could trawl for nested menu javascript etc. stuff so your list on the left isn’t so big, showing collapsed menus apart from the one you are on. Might make the whole thing less intimidating and less likely to miss stuff (I don’t consider myself particularly stupid, but I managed the miss the scrollbar! Doh!).

Thanks for the kind words on what I’ve done so far. Its certainly something I want to finish and also show people what things Im planning to do. I’ve not really shouted too much about the sample map stuff because its not really finished. Just need to find a way of sleeping less and writing more.

If you can offer any good pointers on fixing the java menu stuff in the HTML then I would be happy. I know basic HTML but not really any java stuff.
