Awesome moments

(NewBlueWorld) #1

I’m gonna start with this : I bought the game on Xbox360 on launch day, stuck through some lag and rare visual glitches till the patch came. After that, it was mostly lag-free and a lot of fun. It does seem lonely when you’re unlucky and litteraly, the most people you can find is a 2 vs 2 on standard. I think that’s partly because of all the negative stuff thats been said and exagerated by people who felt ripped off because it wasn’t what they thought they were gonna get. There’s many problems to the equation, like the devs silence or the hype they created by delaying it for so long and talking so highly about it. I could ramble for a little while here but realistically, it won’t change much. So I stopped caring for these “glaring” problems such as absence of matchmaking or the random spread and just tried to adapt to it. Tried all the classes and their toys, the guns, made some sick ass looking dudes, and I realized this game was actually a lot of fun. I’ll end this ridiculously long introduction/parenthesis by saying that I understand the PC users because this does feel like a console game. With a wsad setup and a mouse, you have an edge while moving and aiming, which must make the brink experience clumsy at best. On console though, when you get used to burst fire at different distances with the AR and spray with the smgs for example, you can definitely become deadly.

Anyways, on to what I was supposed to talk about lol, I was playing brink tonight with wolfnemesis and a few people of this forum. All on one side (7 humans) vs all bots. It was pretty boring at the beginning to tell you the truth but I stuck through and started having an amazing time demolishing them, helped with the teamwork we had going and all the buffs distributed. I’ve been rocking the Euston/Carb9 since the beginning, both are awesome if you can use them at the right time. Here I was, at the end of Shipyard, right beside the alley where they were all gonna come out. My teammates were well into the hack when I popped out to see if they had spawned yet. The whole team is right there, just start unloading my euston in soo many bodies, killing like 2-3 and harming the others. Quick switch to my carb, the blasts to pieces the remaining enemies. I tried to count the bodies cause the kill announcer had too much going on lol, it had to be almost their entire team.

The whole point of this post/thread was to tell you guys an awesome moment I had in brink and shine some light on the darkness of this forum. I’ve been quietly reading a lot of whats been said while “working” and I think if we started thinking positively, coupled with the incoming DLC (and the patch/gun balancing), we could have a shot at reviving it. Its all about being positive - it’d be pretty awesome actually if trolls kept out of this thread. I’m not attacking or insulting or laughing at someone, so please don’t do it to me either

So, what have been your favorite moments in brink?

ps. : I was pretty hgih (read it backwards) while writing this, if that explains anything :stuck_out_tongue:

as long as you have decent people to play with i always have fun.

on the other hand i will give you my only rage quit to this game (well, not rage but i stopped playing one night)

i was on a good team, destroying the opposition 4/5 maps in a row. we were always picking attack as i think its harder to attack so we thought it might even out.

anyway, after 5 maps i decide to swap teams to help them out (its not nice being continually thrashed is it?). man, ive never seen such a bad team. playing sec tower the first bomb is usually really easy, right? not with these fools :frowning:

most were just sat in our spawn trying to snipe, while i go heavy soldier (im creating a specific heavy jack character) so my task it to run to the bomb plant, on my own, kill the 3 people holding the gate, whilst also taking out the 3 snipers above the res spawn (you know, the bit where snipers in your own base cant even see)

i spent the whole round trying to plant. killing at least 6 enemies each go, but every time i get to the plant, one of the snipers has respawned and back up there with a sniper and i get headshot 2 times in quick succession. it takes an eternity to plant when you are under fire from barnetts.

anyway, sorry for the hijack. i usually really enjoy brink but that was my bad game. in the end after 10 mins of all this action i quit on them, they needed more help that just me.

whats the betting that those people with no concept of teamwork or even buffing are the ones saying that brink is boring or rubbish?

i bet on that.

for shure they are not the onlyones complaining, there is true critics out there. But these people, peeps that don´t have the lightest clue, what this game is about are calling bring a bad game or a fail.

Two nights ago I enter an attack on resort, on the last objective, with 1:10 left in the match. There’s 46% on the hack box and security is de-hacking.

I change to operative at the command post and sprint for the objective. When I get to the hack room there are 4 enemies, two of which are de-hacking. I kill the first enemy, then grenade shoot the two at the hack box. I then sprint for the back entrance and flank the remaining enemy for the kill

At this point the hack box is at 9%. I start the hack but two more enemy engineers run in. Luckily, they are stupid bots and go for the hack box, allowing me to kill them. I then start the hack on the last second, literally, and the match goes into overtime.

Now I have no ammo in my magazine, and I can’t stop the hack to reload or the match will end. I run to the room on the other side of the hackbox and stand there. As the hack progresses, I can hear enemy engineers (probably bots) on the other side of the wall trying to de-hack, but all it does is slow down the hack progress.

The rest of the teams continue to fight outside, and no one ever enters the back room where I’m just standing, watching the hack progress. Eventually, a bot comes to help with the hack and Resistance wins.

Best win ever.

I had a glorious match Sunday night:

Reactor, hack, 5 minute overtime.

We were killing, not a single box planted with 2 minutes left. My buddy and I switch teams to make things more interesting. The turrets and snipers are killing us, but I finally get the box planted and high tail it out of the room.

I crouch on the other side of the wall nearest the hack box (outside the building) next to the little support strut. For the next 5 minutes of ot, the hack goes up to 70% and down to almost 25% several times. I’m watching my whole team running by me, keeping the enemy engineers off the box. I even see to enemies run right past me, the gunfight is so intense inside, and they have no idea where I am.

We get the hack 5 minutes into OT, then bomb the reactor. What were we thinking?!

That sounds epic.

actually, i had a game the other night. on the map where sec have to hack first - terminal? anyway. im a heavy and hacking the objective, when i see a heavy run in with a chinzor. as he is trying to shoot me i keep running around the doors, so im always on the other side of the glass. i keep running around and around while he is constantly shooting glass and im hacking. in the end he finally got me but i had hacked ~60% by then and gave my team enough time to respawn and come help me.

it was so comical i was crying with laughter and hearing the benny hill music in my head. my wife was looking at me funny as i had tears rolling down my cheaks. possibly the best comedy ive had from a FPS
