So, I just joined this PUG mumble to play a pug, and because I was new there I got “Fat Kidded”, basically ignored and left to sit in a channel on my own.

Cool man thanks very much, after tonight’s antics I think I’ll return to CSGO, new players should be welcomed not ridiculed and laughed at, what sort of community is this?
Hi @arcane, I am assuming you are talking about the Dirtcups.gg community ran Mumble?
I’m the founder of Dirtycups.gg and this is the kind of things I want to prevent. While being the “fat kid” happens from time to time because there are more players then a 5v5 can host, if you don’t get picked that game, you instead sit out for one match and are guaranteed a spot next game!
Did one of the players verbally harass you? If so, that matter is a bit more serious and I’ll handle that situation myself.
Thanks,
Warmonic

No they said absolutely nothing, I heard oh he’s getting “fat kidded” then everyone had disappeared and not a word was said to me. I’m a 27-year-old guy and I don’t appreciate the reference, I am no kid nor am I fat. Was my first time on that mumble and I can assure you I will not be returning.
It’s a term that is commonly used in the Mumble by all walks of life, 12 year old or 32 year old. It’s just a silly dodgeball term. If you read the rules you would have known you would have been guaranteed a spot in the next game, you would have been first pick, even. Next time you should read the rules, everyone is friendly (albeit they can seem off putting, they are all very friendly guys) and try to communicate to people. Sorry your experience didn’t go the way you want.
Cheers,
Warmonic

Well as an online gamer since 1995 I can safely say that is the first time I’ve ever heard that, It’s a reference to bullying, and you allow it. So yeah great system. Well, they communicated not one word to me.
Hey man, you have to understand that a game can only be played with 10 people. So when there are 11 people naturally one person will not be able to play. They have some rules to prevent this like, if you did not play in the previous game then you get priority in being picked next. It sounds like you were there during the first game of the day. You should have stuck around and you would have played in the next one.
Basically it sounds that you joined at JUST the wrong time. You connect end up in the big channel group list, obviously they must have just been picking teams and the term “fat kidded” as offensive? as it sounds basically means that you did not get picked for that game. Once this happens you get left out of the match but you and any other people that get fat kidded MUST be picked first by the team captains for the next match.
If you joined just as picking was being completed that could be why it feels like it did. If you had just waited for that match to finish everyone would have jumped back into the main channel said GG and stuff for the last match, picked 2 new captins and then been picked for the next match right away.
Fat Kidded is not a reference to skill or personal opinion its just a joke passed on from the old school days when people would pick teams and the fat kid would get left out. Just has a bit more of a ring to it when compared to something like “Lefted Outeded”. Often some of the best players in the game can find themselves not being picked on purpose to try and build balanced teams for the match.
Sorry you had the experience that do you feel you had.
Hope too see you pop in and maybe give it more of a chance this time.
Least wait for 15-20min so a match finishes and you can see the full process.
The player base for Dirty Bomb is still very small and its not often we get to have multiple matches on all at the same time. So just because you jump in does not mean your going to get a game instantly… ALSO because there was just enough players when you jumped in thats why you was on your own. The teams are placed into their own teams chat and play with comms and stuff. No offence but if your not known its unlikely you will be wanted talking too people while they are playing a semi-serious match, I am sure you can understand that at least right?
Haha I know how it works, it’s the fact they never said a word to me or explained that, just referenced “fat kidded” and all left the channel I was in, so why would I stick around and wait, when in my eyes they have just insulted me and left.

And the player base will remain small when new players are ignored and fat kidded because they are unknown in this game. Nobody explained anything to me, Just heard the term he’s getting fat kidded, then everyone left the channel and I was sat there feeling insulted. I won’t be returning sorry.
It takes two to tango, they won’t know you unless you speak up.
Again, sorry this happened to you, but it happens to everyone, it even just happened to me!
Agreed. Feels more like a Good Ol’ Boys club then a friendly gaming community. Regulars as Captains picking Regulars as Players. Not to mention the amount of Announcement spam coming from the group. I left it after an all CAPS announcement popped up screaming for more people to join the mumble and PUG, which was within 1-2 minutes of TWO other announcements asking for people to PUG.

I’ll have another talk about spam, because I told them specifically not do to this, so I apologize. I have my Steam notifications off so I don’t see them when they do this.
If people seriously have a problem with the Mumble, please, feel free to talk to us about it. To my understanding they try to pick the most balanced teams for better play, so that is why you might see “regulars” getting picked more often, and honestly there is only one way to become a regular, and that’s to get involved. The people in the mumble won’t know who you are without you hanging out, talking to them, introducing yourself, etc.
Again, if you don’t get picked the first time, you are GUARANTEED a spot in the next one. Sticking around is how you become known. After talking to some of the people who have been pugging for a while today, they have told people they get picked next.
Would be beneficial for all if all the teamless puggers actually formed teams and scrimmed instead. Everyone would be happy that way and there would be more competition.

Sounds like you’re looking for an excuse to remain upset about the situation when it’s been explained to you a few times now. You likely went in at a bad time after teams were selected. And besides, how would you really get the info to the mumble without sorta knowing how it works?
Okay… this thread is simply unnecessary and unwarranted drama. Everyone gets the opportunity to play pugs. If you aren’t picked in the first game, you get priority pick in the following game. Regulars are made captains simply because they are aware of skill levels/xp and can create the most balanced teams possible. If you have an issue, please take it up with an admin and it will be sorted. I would have gladly given up my spot for you to play, but instead you chose to respond in the least mature way and I am sorry it had to come to that.
Hrm, I really should get in on these pugs one of these days. Hard to get invested in an FPS when I’m pretty heavily invested in the FGC scene these days.
There are a lot of good people who hang out there.
Give it another chance and don’t be so quick to run off to the forum and label an entire community of people because 1-2 people hurt your feelings on the internet.
