There are 2.4 spawn cycles within that time (dependable on the size of the match, in a ranked 5v5) that means only sometimes you can get one kill in a minute. That does suggest that you need improvement. I absolutely do not agree with the folks here that suggest KDR does not matter in this game. That’s a ridiculous assertion, its a vital aspect of this game, of any FPS game. What I think they mean to say is that it’s not everything (because SW and OBJ are objective-based well duh).
And then there are comments suggesting that its only important with certain mercs. 0.83 kills/min with anyone is not good at all. Especially if you’re going against a formidable team, you need every player to contribute to kills. Personally, for almost every merc that I play including medics (mostly sparks) its at 2 kills/min. I’m definitely looking at this at the more competitive perspective, but there is no question about that being a poor performance. I’d like to help you out, add Kingsley (lvl 33/elite) on steam. There are probably some easy to fix FPS mistakes that you are making.
Killing people as a medic doesn’t mean you aren’t healing or reviving. You don’t have to be terrible at taking people down or sacrifice yourself to be a good medic. And a lot of times if you’re successful at killing people it will drag down your numbers for revives and healing because your teammates chances of dying are that much lower as well.
Balance in your play and good choices are always the key to success and winning. Sometimes the right choice is to shoot the remaining player since you’re at full HP as opposed to eat their shots as you sacrifice yourself to get up a player who probably has to reload and won’t be at full HP.
KD has nothing to do with being good.
Only thing, that most players seem to miss, that matters is objective.
Two or three days ago i had one of those rare TDM matches. Fortunately, we won. Fortunately, players on both teams were mostly dumbarses.
Fortunately for us, we had “crazy” Proxy on our side, who were constantly rushing EV to repair/escort it(and then objective to deliver). At some point i even started to shadowing her, pretty much ignoring every1 else.
Fortunately, since pretty much all of the opponents were busy with DM, we met some resistance, but not really as much as it could be, even if one opponent were concerned with preventing us to get that objective.
We won, however. In the end that proxy ended up 4rd, with kd around .4 . Our team MVP was a sniper, who was a good shot, but he did absolute zilch to support objective advancement. Followed by Fragger and Skyhammer. None of them did anything in terms of supporting objective advancement.
So, in the end, MVP and KD doesnt mean squat. Since this game is about completing objectives, not racking up frags. And on that part, most of those super-snipers fail completely, since they either dont care or fail to wrap their mind around the fact what this game is all about.
If you enter a chef contest, then your skill as a lumberjack means shit, no matter how good you are at it. At best, its supplementary.
When I get somebody like that on my team or somebody like that is on the other team I always try to point it out in the post game lobby. I’m not a fan of the “lemming” style of play but sometimes you come across somebody who isn’t a lemming and instead is smart when they are aggressively attacking objectives. I either try to support them myself by keeping people off them or I intentionally go after them if they are on the other team because I know exactly how good they are for the team. And I think a lot of people don’t see that during a lot of games so I try to always point it out when I run across one playing intelligently (either with or against). Especially if they weren’t top score. Same for good medics that know when to shoot and when to revive.
Yeah this is getting a bit overthought but there’s some interesting discourse.
Medics don’t have to suck at K/D in order to do their job. I spend most of my time medic class, am situationally aware and focused on protecting myself and rez/healing where the fights are, but I still maintain a high K/D. Not a brag, saying it’s completely reasonable.
As for PUG teams ignoring objectives, it’s just the nature of the beast I suppose. I find that people are often responsive in chat if you just “take control” and start issuing commands either via mic or team chat.
“Regroup, don’t go rambo, everyone right side. Sweep and kill, then proxy repair and every1 guard her.”
This kind of direction works wonders for the “lemmings” you guys are talking about. They just do what they’re told, and if you leave them to their own devices they just wander about shooting at random choke points w/out purpose.

It wasnt lemminging per se, player were just solely concentrated on objective, fighting when had 2, but if choice was present, then picking objective every time.
Honestly, seen it a couple of times, but never seen it actually work. At best those “commanders” are being ignored, but mostly they are suggested to go and have an intercourse with themselfs, if they continue to issue commands.
Kingsley thanks for calculating my score and thanks to the guy who gave me average answer I aimed for (as someone said this is getting quite overthought aha) but anyways, I started this game without knowing much of the gameplay and with intervals in my gaming so my ratios have been utter shit negatively affecting in undesired ways. But now as I finally set my mind to it I realise the mistakes I make, for example shooting the bodies rather than heads or running out at stupid moments, and they’re the main things that are killing me. I bought nader recently and she’s a madness so I’m getting quite decent 20-30 kills per stopwatch for example.
I don’t have the game open right now as it’s nearly 2am but I don’t think there is data in the profile section which tells you score for the last 10 hours or whatever, is there? (If there is then ignore this). I think it would be extremely useful in showing people like myself that they are improving as time goes on and give them something to aim for.
There is a limit in qualitative conclusions that can be made based on DB’s quantitative data available to players.
Even win/lose ratios can easily mask reality - an average player could boost their win/loose ratio by consistently playing on the stacked team; whereas an exceptional player may join losing teams hoping to balance them out/get a better closer game out of it.
What you really need is some qualitative data such as being able to make reviews of other players.
A simple statement like this “gives out ammo/health packs and looks for people to revive” with 100 likes and 3 dislikes provides a good whack of information regarding support behaviour and could make a difference for player deciding to tap out or wait for that medic to revive.

Definitely been the recipient of some random hate-spew for being what you call a “commander”. But I like winning and play FPS (read: have a thick-skin). Negative comments won’t deter me from trying if there’s a chance it’ll improve teams odds of winnings even slightly.
Suppose that’s optimism? My my I think I might have actually grown up a bit :#
