autoexec.cfg overwritten?

(TheWitness) #1

Tried the guide here in the sticky and made an autoexec.cfg file with a key bind, placed it under binaries, then changed steam launch options for the game with -exec=autoexec.cfg. When I start the game the key bind doesn’t work, so I open console and type exec autoexec.cfg and my key bind works like it should.

But, when a new match starts my key bind is gone and i have to re-enter exec autoexec.cfg in console. Same thing goes if I restart the game… Why, and how do I make the changes stick?

“You probably have some other action bound to the same key. Go through the keybinds ingame and unbind whatever is bound to that key.” -Rears on Reddit (r/Dirtybomb)

Just wanted to say thank you for posting the answer once you found out. Nothing worse than having a problem and coming across an empty thread.

Yes, though it is a question that has come up before that I’ve also answered in the past. I should probably add a FAQ section to that guide for questions like these. @TheWitness If you have any other problems related to the topic of that guide let me know via a post on that guide, or a private message, and I’ll get back to you on it ASAP. I didn’t end up answering this one cause I didn’t notice the post; I usually check for questions in comments on the guide and my messages regularly so if you have a problem after using the guide those would be the proper channels to reach me through.
