I don’t see what’s hard about “anyone who is not our team (indicated by names and glow) is their team” Don’t see the point of making your team glow AND the enemy glow separately as if the players thought process when seeing blue is “ok this is my team, i see them, their name, their class, their outline. I like my team.” If they were to run across something without an outline “OMG what’s this strange otherworldly entity which bares no outline?!? what sorcery is this?” No, it’s not outlined, it’s not your team, there are only 2 teams, shoot it. There is absolutely trouble in differentiating blue people and NOT blue people, it’s embarrassing that they think people need blue AND red.
Auras/Outlines
perhaps there might be a reason for using actually 2 specific colours… on the outline of every team in the match
I’m surely will play the game with almost no HUD elements, at least, I’ll dispense as much as I can. wanna bet?
Well that’s weapuh’s point, the reason is absolutely not apparent. Even if everyone looked the same it wouldn’t be an issue to discriminate between those who have a green arrow/name tag on them and those who don’t.
exactly how bad are these things? i mean it cant be that bad… i dont think the operative is a ninja, i think he’s supposed to be more of the tactition type like KZ3. is there really supposed to be any stealth gameplay? are people planning on using the disguise for killing? (im pretty sure it’s supposed to be used for objectives. like capturing comand posts etc.) but all in all i think the auras are fine, they can help medics by showing them when it’s a good time to revive their team mates, they help the soldiers with pushing the team forward by clearing the area of enemies, and for the engi’s they can know when to throw down a turret for some mucho bad guy areas. But honestly i dont think the auras will even be noticable after a week of playing, have some faith in SD guys.
What does any of this have to do with the operative? The auras are there primarily for one reason, to distinguish friend from foe. We don’t have two teams, one with red uniforms and one with blue uniforms, there are two teams where every single player looks different than every other. Sure, there are color pallets and so forth which are supposed to help, but it will eb ahuge issue IDing friend from foe, especially at a distance.
So yeah, some form of ID is needed, but only for guys who are on your team.
And most of us do have faith in SD, faith that they will give us the option to turn one or even both of them off if we want to. Obviously we will need to try it for a bit to see how it works, but I’m betting most private playnow servers will end up with red aura’s off. No idea how it will work on consoles, probably you guys are stuck with it.
So put me in the not worried about it camp.
I think I’d prefer the glowies. It tends to help me when I’m in a darkened area. Plus, I really don’t want to shoot a teammate by accident. Just my opinion.
What’s this talk about stealth/eliminating stealth?
Are people going to be melting away into the shadows?
Is there a Rogue class I’m unaware of?
Where is this “stealth” you speak of?
Hmm, I think stealth was a bad choice of word, I was talking about being able to remain discreet rather than something akin to Splinter Cell. The outlines make every enemy stand out, even those one may not have noticed otherwise and given how the outlines get harder with range, I think it’s the snipers who’ll benefit most from this. It seems that this will be something disadvantageous especially for someone using the light body type or the operative class as it is essential for them to stay out of plain sight.
I can play bad company just fine without all the glowing stuff and in that game you change faction freely, you can be russian in one map and the US in the next.
All you need is to see the damn health bar on top of your allies… that should be enough to sell you who is your friend and who is not.
And on top of it, you can mark them if you press Q (it has its limitation though) and that mark is pretty small… it’s not something that affects the visual too much… like the glowing.
