Aura's Healing Station Needs to be Nerfed Now.

(bubblesKeyboard) #1

People have complained about this in the last 3 beta phases and no one has done anything.

Aura is the reason Sawbonez is useless as a medic. Why would you ever use Sawbonez if you have Aura? The fact that she insta-heals herself on the station makes her easier to use than Sawbonez who heals himself as fast as any normal health regen.

Nerf the god damn station.

I know mercs that deal with her aren’t there blahblahblah but that doesn’t change the fact that Sawbonez, who is a COMBAT medic is no where near as powerful as Aura due to her ability to heal herself.

Sawbonez v. Aura, Aura wins every time. Losing a gun fight? No fking problem, just run a corner and sit on a station. You have a no-spread shotty so anyone that rushes you will get their face smashed in. You thought Sawbonez was supposed to be a combat medic? NOPE!

Many times I’ve had to back out of gunfights because Aura sitting on her healing station was too god damn ridiculous. I’ve engaged her on multiple occasions as Skyhammer where she puts a healing station behind some small cover and chips away at me with her shotgun. She can literally sit there and tank my shots unless (I headshot her) while she slowly chips away at my health which doesn’t regen at the speed of light.

Its so BROKEN it gives me cancer. The fact that it regens other players instantaneously doesn’t even piss me off as much as Aura healing herself. EVERY GUNFIGHT you need to destroy her healing station before you kill her, and every time if you get close enough to do that she will blast your head open. The only thing you can do is change to Fragger and toss insta-gib nades at her.

Yesterday (or the day before that cant remember) I wrote on these forums and said that i think Aura is perfectly fine. I have come to change my mind about that and im inclined to agree with the people who think she is in need of a rework.

What i do not understand is that Aura is meant to be a mobile medic. Alright, mobility i can buy that. Now we give her a shotgun. sure thing that works too. then we give her a stationary healing tower that gives her insane selfhealing and we state in the bio that this makes her more mobile because she doesnt have to be around to heal… weeeeeeelllll…did you really think that through?

I have absolutely no incentive to be mobile. sure the mobility makes the merc more potent but if i can heal all my health in 4 seconds i dont really want to leave the safety of my station.

From what I have experienced so far it would make more sense to swap the health and mobility of Aura and Sawbonez simply because Sawbonez is played the way i feel they intended Aura to be played.

I completely agree with this statement. if you swapped Sawbones and Auras abilities their identities would feel more secure. I tend to camp around with Aura and I am more mobile with Sawbones because of the way their healing works. On a side note I think that the heath pack and healing station heal rates should be swapped as well.

I agree as well, when I play Aura I tend to not stray too far from my healing station.

Yeah Aura is OP

The main problem is that the healing station heals enemies while you’re still shooting them. If they made it so that it doesn’t heal you until you stop taking damage for a half second or so, it would be a lot fairer.

A suggestion I like to make is to limit how much her healing station heals. So lets say it can only heal 500 amounts of damage and then it disappears after and you have to recharge. Pick up the station doesn’t reset the amount, so you have to wait for it to recharge kinda like the minigun for Rhino.

Really think it should work like a healing burst of some sorts, if you take damage after the burst you lose the health regeneration, the burst would fire every 1-2.5 seconds, rather than constantly healing, thus it works less like an instant health machine and more like a safe zone to fall back to, that said there would need to be symbols to tell players to go to it rather than to Aura herself, maybe have the healing/ammo station symbol over it in the field, while the Aura player focuses more on fighting or dropping another one in s more defendable position. That would lead to it being less effective for those who drop it and simply sit beside it to survive incoming damage, like the player that is Aura herself, while Fragger is capable of destroying it, your sacrificing a grenade for the station more often than not and later another for the player, and that isn’t adding the incoming damage the Fragger is going to get.

I’ve made dozens of posts mentioning this with also the idea of making enemy station’s area of effect glow red and making the burst audible to warn players both friendly and enemy that it is around.

Stoker, Nader, even Fragger will make you regret stacking on a healing station.

However, Redcap’s idea would still be ideal. Healing for larger bursts but not 100% of the time.

Thank you

Well if what they say is true; that when all the mercs out the healing station will be balanced, then any type of nerf would make it underpowered…

Sawbonez still feels better and more reliable than Aura to me, especially on attacking side. Aura’s mobility is horrible with the static healing station. Sawbonez with cooldown reduction and supporting ability bonuses is just a godsend.
