Aura healing deployable feedback
I guess one of the issues is also the fact that right now there aren’t that many mercs available, which leads to more people picking and using aura. While the healing station was pretty annoying earlier as well, the fact that all mercs was available lead to us not having to face two or three Auras as often as we have done in these tests.

I’d still like to see what it would do if it healed in bursts rather than continous healing.
True but in COMP/Ranked teams will find the combinations of Mercs to win.

Example White Chapel we could have 5 stokers frist stage and then once the EV is past that ramp by the church we could have 1 stoker 1 fragger and 3 aura’s.

Train Defense stage 2 we could have see 2 aura’s and 3 proxys…

People are going to find the best and most OP merc combinations especially if there is not merc limiter/drafting…

If the other Mercs arent strong enough to counter then this game might only last a year because everyone will just go those OP combinations. This is a much different game then LOL… This is basically a weird version of ET and even in limited ET people did crazy things. Epic mortors and Rnades and Panzers and Standing MG’s but this will be taken to another whole level in DB…

Imagine QCON Finals when TeamBlaa goes 5 proxys with 10 total mines and quick plants. (Train or Terminal)
Imagine QCON Finals when TeamBlaa goes 3 Rhinos and 2 aura’s on Underground stage one!!! Or flip that if defenders go 3 stokers and 2 proxys.

People will find the best combinations and this might make the game boring to people… Remember the best shot does “not” win in this game most of the time…

This is a big issue.

Spookify: Why are you crying over hypothetical scenarios? The metagame will always consist of the currently “OP” combos. The thing to remember is that the metagame always changes due to players figuring out how to be the “OP” combo or the developers re-balancing the game.

Fairly off topic but you do realize there is zero chance Dirty Bomb will be played at Qcon outside of the BYOC, right? I think there is a very very slim chance Dirty Bomb will every be played competitively on LAN in north america. Maybe %5 chance at best. Sad but true ;(

Why’s that?

(Nail) #45

my guess would be no link to Quake and no server binaries

(INF3RN0) #46

They play more than Quake at QCon, but I don’t see why the game wouldn’t ever be played competitively or on LAN…

Its not on an id tech engine for one. Its not an id or Bethesda game. To my knowledge, Brink was the only game id did not make that was every played in an official Quakecon tournament. And Brink WAS on an id tech engine and Brink WAS developed by id’s parent company Bethesda. There is zero chance id will showcase a game on the Unreal engine made by Nexon at Quakecon.

A grassroots BYOC tourney is the only chance for DB at Qcon. Maybe just maybe DB could see a LAN tournament at something like PAX. Beyond that Im not seeing any other option for a NA LAN for Dirty Bomb. Sadness ;(
