Audio stacking up

(RasteRayzeR) #1

I know some of you @SD are already aware of this bug, I though I’d put it here anyway : all the audio sounds stackup, decreasing a lot the performances as you can see in that video :

I have no idea how to trigger it, but it happened quite a lot, in all maps.

EDIT : usually I had to enter the “ToggleMusic” command a few times to solve the problem.

Hi there, thanks for the heads up

I haven’t experienced the issue myself, but it was mentioned during some matches I played on Friday. Could you tell me if you’ve experienced the issue on any other maps, or does it specifically occur on Canary Wharf?

It happened also on London Bridge yesterday. I’m really not sure about the cause but I had it sometimes when I dropped a landmine really close to a wall, and I think the collisions are constantly triggered (could explain the massive slowdown in FPS). It was one of the things that caused the sound to stack up imo.

Usually I have to leave the area and send the command “ToggleMusic” multiple times before it stops

Thanks for the info, do you think you could post a dxdiag report of your system for me?

(RasteRayzeR) #5

I’ll do that tonight sure. I’ll retry and see if the bug reappears, then get the dxdiag (just to be sure)

(shaftz0r) #6

that’s been happening to me since i started playing. its because of fps dropping and i dont think that its any kind of bug. that last area on CW is a massive fps hog

(RasteRayzeR) #7

It’s not location dependent : it happened in all the maps so far. The fps dropping is a consequence of the bug, not the reason

(shaftz0r) #8

hmmm, i dont know man. like i said, thats been happening to me since i started playing. /shrugs

(RasteRayzeR) #9

For me it’s localized in time. I don’t start a game with that bug and it’s related to an action we can perform as a player imo. I’m spending time right now to try to reproduce and understand the bug on another pc

I’m actually really surprised SD didn’t know about this yet. This bug already exists since back in the alpha days. This isn’t something that’s introduced in the last months.

A possible point to pick this up is probably the pause function. As soon as you used the adminpause this also occurs, and a togglemusic also fixes that.

DxDiag :
DxDiag

EDIT: I think it comes from the mines …

(shaftz0r) #12

see again, you’re dropping fps as you come around the corner. every time you hit yellow the sound stutters. one isnt the cause of the other. did this just start happening to you in the new patch?

(RasteRayzeR) #13

yep, never had it before. And when I started recording the video I had already the bug going … but it’s the second time there are mines involved in this bug, I’m starting to wonder …

(shaftz0r) #14

i find myself going windowed, and back to fullscreen as a sort of “vid_restart”. after a minute or so my frames steady out and fixes most issues

(RasteRayzeR) #15

I have never had that with this bug, I remain in the game, fullscreen just like in the videos. Maybe this is not exactly the same bug or your system is less stable than mine

(shaftz0r) #16

seems like im experiencing what inf was describing a while ago with this new patch. seems to be more geared around the airplane audio from an airstrike but ive noticed it a few other times as well. it causes extreme lag and chop until whatever sound is done its cycle

(Violator) #17

It seemed to be down to mine dropping. I also got a massive lag spike during Bridge due to mines.

Jeeeeeezzzuuuuus, this is the third thread opened on this topic … help the devs and put it all in the same place :

http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/39263-Audio-stacking-up

And yes, the mines are what trigger it most of the time for me too, though it’s hard to know for sure since much happens during the fights
