[AUDIO] No audio after latest patch (11/11/14)

Hello,

Everything worked/sounded fine prior to the patch.

I’ve got 2 audio devices, 3 if you count the NVIDIA HD Audio…

I’ve got a USB sound card I use since the ASUS sound card I have gets EMI due to my MB being a PoS…

So I’ve got sound going through the USB card and my MIC through the ASUS card. Works fine for all games all the time… even DB… until the patch today.

I’ve disabled all cards but the USB card to check this out and I still hear nothing. Everything in Windows sounds great… all programs with audio point to this card because it’s the Windows Default Playback Device.

Even when I look at the Windows Volume Mixer I can see DB is playing sound thanks to the level indicator. It’s just not pushing the sound to the default sound card… something to do with it not liking that it’s a USB card or that it was installed when I had the ASUS card installed.

Anyone have any sugggestions for me to try here? I’m an IT guy but this one has me stumped. Not sure what’s changed with regards to audio in this latest patch but it broke my experience. I can play just fine… I just can’t hear anything.

Done:

  • tried killallsounds
  • tried resetsoundstate
  • rebooted after disabling/uninstalling ASUS sound card & NVIDIA HD Audio device
  • attempted a “repair” on the installation

Going to:

  • reinstall DB without any other sound devices “installed” in Windows

Thanks for any help.

Update:

I reinstalled the game without the ASUS card “installed” in Windows.

Didn’t work.

I then re-enabled/re-installed the card and plugged headphones into the output… definitely getting DB sounds/music… but like I said the MB sends off EMI to the right channel of that sound card… so it sucks… left channel only.

I then physically removed the ASUS sound card and then reinstalled DB again.

Didn’t work.

I don’t think the game likes my/any USB soundcards.

The game is definitely making noise according to the Windows Volume Mixer.

More to come.

OK…

I figured it out on a whim… dig on this.

If you use a USB soundcard DO NOT keep it in a USB hub after this patch. Plug it directly into the MB USB ports. Sounds el loco but it worked for me.

I can hear everything perfectly fine now.

Next is to add back the ASUS soundcard that I use/d for my mic and see how kooky things get then.

Body massage.

Thanks for the updates on this- so far this is the only report we’ve had about this.
