If you loved that sort of thing then definitely listen to them. They flesh out some character to some of the main protagonists and give you a feel for the ‘everyday man’ on the Ark.
I agree it’s a pity they’re hidden away and a true SP mode could have incorporated them in nicely (even if it was listening to the recording while walking around the level) and even made them a hard-to-find collectables. But you’d need a full SP mode for this and not just ‘MP with bots’.

I’m not even sure where you listen to them to be honest, I would occasionally get pop ups at the end of rounds saying I unlocked them but it never explained what they actually were and by reading this thread they appear quite important to the story side of things.
I remember someone from SD commenting on the ET news reals and they didn’t expect anyone to listen to them and were shocked to find out a small minority did. Throbblefoot said something very similar to me this morning when I was commenting to her about this thread. She felt like it wasn’t clear what the unlocked audio logs were or where to find them in the menu. (“Dossier”… really people?!?) However, once we did stumble upon and subsequently listened to them we both thought the audio logs added a huge amount of depth to the story of the Ark.
