That’s my thought on the matter. But I hope that if they come up with some interesting ideas later that it’ll get included in a patch or something.
Audio Design: Voiceovers
if brink hadn’t put some much efforts in the voice pack we wouldn’t discuss about it.
compare it to the standards of other FPS’. brink got different foot-sounds for the three body-types, altered guns sounds for close, medium and long range and different sounds hip and ironsight fire. thats a huge step from what i think the standard has been until now. sure we all come up with ideas to make it subjectively been better but seriously i wouldn’t even imagine how much your inquiry would cost, in time and resources. so yeah i think it is asked too much.
and most importantly, SD should NOT do it because i want my game on may 20th, no day later…
In fact, I think they have already mentioned they are doing it (although not per body type, but per player accent). The way I understand it works is you pick an accent along with your archetype, then when your character spews autochat it’s in his voice using that accent, so you will have a good idea who it’s coming to just by hearing it.
So that’s actually better than body type because there will certainly be more than three accents.
Also, when you hear another player’s autochat, you hear the battle he’s engaged in over the radio as part of the ambiat background. So you’ll be able to tell if he’s in the thick of it based on that. How cool is that?
See, it’s not too much to ask for after all
My guess on those voices is they are coming from players 9or bots) who are observing the things happening. Hopefully there’s no “they are stealing our command post” autochat unless it’s coming from someone observing it. Of course, you only need to hear it from one guy, so who gets picked is anyones guess…or, it could be you hear it even if it’s not directly observable (I’d expect a computer voice in that case though “beep, the enemy is hacking me, it tickles, please make them stop!”)

So it’ll probably even sound cool when you hear someone on the radio right next to you. Hearing them in person and over the radio.

we’re on the same page here. i just didn’t see the vocal distinction between the three bodytypes on top of those voice alterations happen…
I wonder if they put in little details like the mouths moving when they talk.
