Well there’s a convincing argument if I ever heard one. Pay king_troll to make the mod tools for you, it only takes 30mins apparently.
This would actually make a lot of sense.SD defnitly needs to find a direction and some hints on how to do a unique mutliplayer game that still works. The way the screwed up Brink gameplay wise is huge.Unbalanced maps, unbalanced classes, unbalanced weapons, unbalanced body types etc. The art section did a fantastic job but the mappers and gameplay guys seem almost incompetent. The maps have such horrible choke points and are so unbalanced its incredible somebody comes up with a design like that. The weapons, well , the whole community was so fed up with them there is no need to go into detail.
If i could mod:
[ul]
[li]
[/li][li]Recoil (Recoil for AS, recoil for crosshair, recoil getting stronger after time x: e.g. after 1.5 seconds of CARB shooting recoil get s stronger)
[/li][li]Spread
[/li][li]Max spread
[/li][li]Range value
[/li][/ul]
I would prolly make a mod.
If others could come up with fresh ideas SD could learn from the community and their ideas.Something very valuable as they ll see what is popular and works. It is absoultely worth the effort. Both the community and SD would benefit but it seems like this is something they don’t see.
They needed a couple of month to come up with a half decent weapons tweak patch that still doesn’t adress a lot of the issues.SD reacts and reacted so slow to their mistakes and the flaws in the game that they completely lost their momentum. The game was much anticipated, the art style was appealing and a lot of people where interested but when they actually PLAYED the game they immediatly felt the emptiness.
Companys like e.g. Tripwire Interactive have a much quicker support, have better community support with a SDK and know A LOT more about gameplay and map design for sure.
Just put your money on 4th times a charm, otherwise ET will prob be buried in the PC graveyard and this place will be declared a console-only forum.

I would help. The game has great elements to it if the weapons weren’t so bad and the maps had some tweaks to it.
I would totally help too, raked. I’m a programmer. And judging from your comments in your other thread I think we want mostly similar things, maybe besides for the recoil thing.
And in response to people who think releasing mod tools won’t make a difference at this point, I don’t think that’s true. I think there are a lot of dedicated players who wanted this game to succeed, and given the chance, would help make that a reality. Particularly because I think there are a lot of competitive gamers who simply don’t like the alternatives. Yes, hardcore CS players may have forgotten about brink and went back to playing CS, but I don’t think ET players and etqw players have found a good replacement for their games, and as I understand it the competitive scene for those games is dying.
The ET players have gone back to ET and forgotten about Brink.
Didn’t someone mention a ET:QW competition with 16 teams signed up in another thread? When Brink was offering cash prizes it drummed up 6 or 8 signup of which only hlaf actually made an appearance.
If you can’t pay people to play your game then I think you have to admit the community has buried it and moved on.
