ATTN PC Players: Weapon Tweak Questions

(Jess Alon) #1

Can you guys give me your opinion on the tweaks? Have they given the heavy a better role?

Is gameplay more fun now?

I’d be curious to get an update on the weapon tweaks and what guns have become more fun to use. For instance the FrknF3 or whatever the 3 round burst AR is. Is it usable now?

Nerfing the Carb-9, Making a bad game worse

Have they given the heavy a better role?

The heavy is better. That said, it’s still not hard to shred a heavy as a light using a Carb-9.

When the patch first came out we went through the guns and retried them all, eventually deciding that the Carb-9 is still pretty much the most viable gun and light definitely still the best class. However, the Kross and MP are not terrible choices now either. Seagle is still an OK handgun choice, despite being was nerfed for some completely unknown reason (the revolver and MP were both very balanced against it before the patch).

Besides from the popular tweak that most folks are giving too much gripes about(nerfed Carb-9),
I think the ones that got the major “upping”, weapons-wise, are the Heavy’s. The Chinzor is more manageable for a fast firing weapon. The Gotlung IS more powerful than it’s previous one. As for my favorite, the Maximus MG, at least they now made it manageable by controlled fire. Also, the damage did increase significantly on my side. I remember how the Maximus feels so hard to control with such recoil.

As for the FAMAS(there I said it!), still the least powerful in my opinion, but at least I can happily strap in the silencer on. And given by it’s accuracy, I say it’s pretty much good.

Crap I forgot, the Hjammerdeim’s very fun ti wield now!

In the afternoon theres a lot of players with heavies around now and in groups they can be a pain. But in the evening when all the seasoned players start wrecking havoc, its still only light time.

The frkn is still useless to me and i dont see many ppl using it.

heavies are great for defence now. i just cant get to grips with their slow pace.

i still play medium 90% of the time  i like my ARs

I wonder what the bayonet is gonna do to accuracy… probably throw your aim all to the wind even when burst firing. i reckon.

I love the tweaks - they are really good. The EZ-Nade Launcher is a freaking BEAST now in skilled hands.

(Fatfool) #8

I’d say the heavy just got a lot more useful. The EZ nade actually works now and can pretty much cause havoc on most maps. (unfortunately, most peeps still can’t use it and the gotlung’s a lot more popular)

Another improvement is the hammerjinn Shotgun. It’s quite a dark horse but it’s damage actually makes it a beast in indoor maps like terminal, aquarium and container city. As usual, focusing with it seems to lower the pellet spread although this is obviously impossible. (but makes it better for gameplay purposes.)

I’d say the heavy still has problems with enemies a long distance away (sec tower, shipyard) though as none of the heavy weapons have a good range. You could go with an AR but you might as well use medium then.

I believe the other shotty needs to be improved though. It’s too slow and even a point blank blast to the head doesn’t kill. Quite like ETQW’s nailgun pr shotty.

IMO gameplay is more fun in the sense that you see a variety of body types and weapons being used (before it was all light and carb/seagle/ritchie). Tactically the game seems alot more diverse and interesting.

But the weapon tweaks did basically nothing to improve the overall accuracy of the weapons, which is what PC players generally wanted to happen. PC players weren’t worried about the tactical aspect of the game because it’s not nearly as bad as the shooting part of the game. So overall I would say the gameplay is funner but still not anywhere near objectively as fun as it should be. Once you’ve “learned” the game, there isn’t much you can work on to improve yourself individually.
FRKN-3K I tried and it still kills too slow at midrange to be good.

I’d like the see the rockstedi be more accurate. And the FRKN-3K have almost the rockstedi’s accuracy with a nice fast three shot burst with controlled recoil. BUT it’d be nice of SD to make it recoil more with each trigger pull unless you wait a second between shooting.

Damn straight.

Carb is still the best up close for a light/med imo, its not as nerfed as people believe. ARs have got better, especially the slow shooters like Rokstedi and the French AR (forget the name).

(burawura) #12

Tampa beats Carb at extreme close range now, but its spread is so huge that it’s practically worthless outside 5m. I too wonder why the Seagle was nerfed. Now nobody will use it: everyone takes either Belgo or Ritchie.

I saw the first proper use of the EZ yesterday after over 300hours… Usually it area denial - for the own team:/

Hjammerdeim (->Hammer time) is a real beast for objective defense with its 3shots now. Though it seems quickly firing them is pointless because the second and third shot are nowhere near the centre. Anyway it deals massive damage at close range. I think it would outperform the other heavy stuff in CQC when used with leaning (taking less damage), but that idea just came while type so I cant back it up with my own experience.

And a word on shotgun mechanics in this game. Every pellet does the same damage no matter where it hits. So you dont aim for the head and make some pellets miss. You aim for the centre mass and make as many pellets hit as possible (- be it feet only :D)

And at the bottom line I still see the light stronger then any other body type…

i love the rhett after the patch and the garand or whatever its called. rokstedi IMO needs a buff as its not great in a straight up firefight. nice gun, just doesnt hurt enough, the draganov type rifle does much more damage and even fires quicker.

that 3 shot famas ripoff is horrible to use. unless you kill on the first burst they almost always kill you. the 3 bursts seem to take ages to fire

(FrankieGodskin) #15

How’s the Gerund post-patch?

(Smoochy) #16

a beast

i use it a lot now. great for medium -> long range

(tangoliber) #17

I’m using the FRKN still on PS3 (no weapon tweaks yet) just because I’m stubborn. Hope you guys are wrong about it still not being usable. I tend to use the less popular weapons in pubs…though in a real match (if the clan community ever gets started again on PS3), I will go light/smg of course.

I’ve been avoiding the Sea Eagle, cause I don’t want to fall in love with it only to see it nerfed.

(Cep) #18

I think the FKRN is more than usable at range. So if your on defence with a long distance in front of the enemy, say hack objective on resort or first balcony at Sec tower its awesome. Same with Rokstedi.

Close to mid quarters though I would use something like the Gerund or Carb-9

(tangoliber) #19

Do you think it is equal to other long range weapons though?

I tend to use a Ritchie with COGA at long range, because it is still useful if I’m surprised up close by the enemy (whereas I would have to switch from a light rifle in the same situation.)

i tried that gun FRKN but its such a POS. unless you kill them with the first burst (unlikely) you almost always die (unless they suck). so much quicker to fire off loads of SMG / AR bursts.
