ATI release new drivers. 11.5a RC3
I can confirm, I can finally play Brink with my 5970 and no longer getting ridiculously bad frame rates.
No crossfire working but even with 1 gpu I can finally lock the game to 60 fps and leave shadows turned on!!

tryin now this **** better work or its more anger rants at sd.
uhh excited. one more reboot. will edit the results into this post for my E8400 3.0ghz HD 5870 4 gb ram system:
Edit: Okay
That drivers really better than the 11.2 i was using. Tomorrow will be my brink day. get about 40 fps average without shadows enabled and medium settings. still not impressed but far away from unplayable like it was
But sound bugs around a lot during my test. combined with a litte mega lagg. maybe my cpu gets old but still dont see what can be that cpu demanding in brink …
Still get -50% with Ambient Occlusion so don’t use it. ATI Beta tester said SD need to fix that, not a driver issue.
I’m able to enjoy the game now, no more lagging and stuttering. Just need a patch to fix the disappearing sounds.
I was using 11.5 when Brink came out but then I reverted to 11.4. I don’t want to get these new ones unless I know they will increase my frame rate… 11.4 seems to be doing just fine.
i went back to 11.2 and its faster with the new version. but if youre too lzy to try you wont find out
Definite improvement but I still get substantial framerate loss in wide areas. Security tower is practically unplayable.
My fps still goes down to 20-25 with these drivers, but overall fps has gone up by about 5.
r_threadedrenderer 1 raises my fps by another 5 fps, but causes high unstability so I don’t use it. Hah, it’s just like mat_queue_mode 2 used to be in TF2. :stroggtapir:
