Asynchronous Wave Spawntimes

I know that some of the maps tend to be prone to Full Holds and there is only so much that can be done with layouts.
I was wondering if Splash Damage would consider bringing back a game mechanic from some older games – namely, as the thread suggest, asynchronous wave spawntimes.

I think Asynchronous waves could fix maps that tend to be unbalanced by adjusting times to compensate for spawn locations and map layout.
As a bonus, I think it will make suicides a gamble if you decide to respawn with your team.

Curious to know what the community thinks. I’ve always been a fan of asynchronous spawntimes, and I wonder if I’m with the minority.

What do you actually mean with asynchonous spawn waves? Different times for both teams? different times based on the part of the map?

In Objective mode waves ARE asynchronous. Stopwatch mode is synchronous, but it balances itself out by switching sides.

By Asynchronous, I mean:

  1. Your team and the Enemy Team do not spawn at the same time
  2. The countdown timer for each respawn wave is not necessarily the same time for each team (20 seconds for Attackers, 30 for Defenders for example).
  3. The countdown timer starts at an arbitrary, randomized time within the countdown conditions for the first respawn ONLY (Attackers may start the game with the countdown timer starting at 7 seconds left, Defenders may start with the countdown timer starting at 15 seconds left – once the first wave has completed, it follows their normal countdown preventing the other team from knowing when the countdown has actually started).
  4. Countdown timers are always synched with the game clock.

I did not know this, but it is good to know. Regardless, I think the timing mechanics should be the same across the board.
